1967 war was a massive victory for Israel. In this war, Israel’s 2,64,000 soldiers were directly pitted against 2,80,000 troops of Arab army. Israel lost just 800 soldiers while Arab army lost 21,000 troops and half of its combat aircraft and lot of land were siezed by Israel which included, Jerusalam, West Bank, Sinai, Gaza Strip and Golan Heights. It was a deep humiliation for Arabs.
1973 war was a different story. A big Arab army of 1.2 million troops invaded Israel. Israel with just 2,00,000 soldiers soon started loosing the war. The Arab army overran Israeli post at many places. Israel was short of ammunition and would have been wiped out from the world map. But then Americans came to the rescue of Israel and supplied them with one billion dollor worth of arms and ammunition. This reversed the war outcome and Israel started driving out the Arab army with the latest american weaponry. At that point Soviet Union got enraged (because of American action) and threatened to attack Israel. This threat eventually stopped the war. Arab army lost 19000 soldiers while Israel lost 4000 troops and part of the captured land (Sinai).
Today there is no power to come to the rescue of Arab world. Russia wouldn’t do what USSR did during 1973. So Israel has a free run.
