Indian army's excesses are bad but the cross border terrorist attacks on civilians have by far been the worst in the past.
That's what you think.
And yet, at the end of the day, when the people of Kashmir (who, unlike uninformed casual observers like yourself, actually have to bear the brunt of the occupation army's abuses) are asked what they think, they tell a completely different story. According to the 2002 MORI survey, 64% of Kashmiris interviewed reported that the Indian army is guilty of widespread human rights violations, only 2% said that the militants were guilty of the same. The same survey also found that only 9% of Kashmiri respondants wanted Indian citizenship. And before you claim that the survey was biased against India, let me just point out that your government actually quotes other findings from that very same study in official publications.
Remember...when a militant dies, thousands of people gather in the streets to mour his death and carry his body to the Martyr's Graveyard at the Shrine of Naqshband Sahib. On the other hand, the death of a stray dog garners more attention & sympathy than the death of one of your soldiers.
