Company policy on Blogs

What is your company policy on blogs? Any of your co-workers being encouraged or fired based on that?

Do you guys even know what your company policy on blogs is?

Re: Company policy on Blogs

when you talk about blogs, I'm assuming you mean personal ones?
if so, I haven't heard of a specific policy for blogs per say, but would think the same policy that applies to chatting and browsing non-work related websites applies here as well.

I maintain professional blogs for my projects though and share those regularly with my colleagues as a way of sharing my experiences and develop an informal community of practice. Often then at the end of the project, this gets formalized a little more into a summary document that's circulated around the dept.

Talk of the Nation, May 24, 2005 · Blogging is a favorite pastime for many tech-savvy writers. But when the subject of the blogs veers into the workplace, employers have been less enthusiastic. Los Alamos Labs is red-faced after an employee revealed security concerns in a blog. And Delta has fired a flight attendant for leggy photos on her web journal.

John Palfrey, director of Harvard University’s Berkman Center for the Internet and Society

^ aah - so that's what you mean... now it makes sense.

I suppose this trend will instigate new changes in Non-Disclosure-Agreements and Innovation, Privacy & Proprietary Information contracts that one has to sign at the beginning of their employment with a lot of organizations.

I haven't heard of any such changes at my workplace just yet.
