compact powder

whatz the differece between compact powder n pressed powder???

Re: compact powder

also hw should powder b applied after foundation
shud it b applied? which1?

A compact powder and pressed powder are actually the same thing, loose powder is micro-fine tinted powder that goes over u're foundation and is ideal if u have oily skin since it tones down the shine. Pressed and compacts are also used to "set" u're foundation and ideal for touch-ups whenever needed. Please make sure u'res matches u're foundation and skin-tone.

It just depends on your preference. whatever you find easier to use.

yes i would always suggest every one to apply powder after foundation specially if ur skin is oily and even if its not its better to apply because 1. faces tend to release some oil and so if powder is applied, it reduces the shine 2. it sets the powder well 3. its gives the face a nice smooth/clean look.
ur question as to how to apply it...simply apply foundation and then take powder puffs(best fora pplying powder) or makeup pads and load the puffs in the powder , buff off extra and apply on the entire face, more on the t-zone(forhead, around the nose and chin area) and ur set:)

another choice would be to use dual active powders, that way u wont have to apply powder.....

Re: compact powder

I do not go anywhere without my powder but is loose powder really better for oily skin?

Loose powder actually absorbs alot of the oil off of u're face and I wud reccomend that u use it over u're foundation and set u're makeup (make sure it matches u're skin-tone AND foundation as well) And keep u're compacts for any touch-up jobs throughout the day.

Re: compact powder

it depends on the brand but loose power is usually more finely milled and gives a more sheer coverage as well as absorbing the oil.
i really like MAC's loose blot powder. i keep some in a mini sifter pot in my handbag for use during the day too.

Re: compact powder

i dont like face powder personally...it maks me luk like a granny...nd gives this cake look

how did it go..the mac's loose powder? u like it? actually i too want to buy some loose powder...i already use powder foundation on daily basis..whenever i go out..its nice...but now its finishing so just wanna try someother thing...this loose powder can be applied alone as well?

I think that's because you haven't found the right powder with the right colour match... which brands have u tried that gave u a caky look?

another option...can't live without it is NARS powder... I would recommend the MAC's powder over NARS if you have acne prone skin.... i haven't had any breakout problem with it so far...but other than that I like it because it doesn't give u a caky look.. can't even tell that you have applied it... I used to apply foundation, but now i just use the nars powder to even out my skin tone...

I think you should try both and see which suits u better...

i love it. it's one of my make-up essentials. but i wear it on top of liquid foundation - it makes everything look smoother and keeps the shine at bay.
as far as using it alone, it really depends on how much coverage you want. it's a sheer powder so it doesn't give any coverage on its own - just makes your skin look smoother. if you have a good complexion and don't need to wear foundation then it's a good choice. or you could wear tinted moisturiser with the loose powder on top.

thanx for replying dear...what is the complete name of the NARS product? about MAC,what do u recommend? plz mention the complete names from both MAC and NARS:) thankx again for ur kind concern !!!!

ohh..actually i dont use liquid foundation that much..just on parties...but if u dont want to use powder foundation..whatelse wud be good for wearing on daily basis? i dont need much coverage but just little one should be there...

Re: compact powder

^^Some concealer, light lipgloss, a base eyeshadow and your good to go!

For the MAC loose podwer, is it necessary to use MAC foundation along with it? I have Lancome liquid foundation that I use but would like to try the MAC loose powder.

Re: compact powder

uetian21: i was just mentioning what i use, you can use the loose powder on top of any kind of foundation (powder or liquid) or on its own. if you don't need much coverage but want something light to even out your skin then i would recommend a tinted moisturser (for a little bit of colour) and then loose powder on top to make everything look smooth and absorb any oil. MAC and NARS both do pressed powders that are a bit heavier than the loose power but will also smooth out your skin nicely without looking like you have anything on... so with this you could probably forgo the tinted moisturiser.
the MAC one i use the the 'Loose Blot Powder'. go and try them out and see what you like!

desigirl: go for it! you can use it on top of anything. i used to wear a MAC foundation but now I wear a Laura Mercier one and i still wouldn't be without the loose blot powder.

....

the MAC pro store in London is doing a 20% off event tonight so i'm off there later!

They are one and the same... Are they? Confused

Well, I for one, have always thought that both 'COMPACT' and 'PRESSED' powder meant the same thing... But meh, I don't know much about make-up so I shall now shut up and let someone else answer the question (IF they haven't already... Didn't bother reading the thread in its entirety).

and i too was just sharing what i use:) ...ok which company's tinted moisturiser is good? i never used it dats why asking u:) exactly dats what i want just a litttle bit of colour...
