I plan to have a little mayoun/uptan type event few days before the wedding. I live in the Cambridge/waterloo area but after looking here, I figured it would be fine to do it anywhere in GTA, Hamilton, Guelph etc. We’re making the food at home and it’s only a ladies event. I’ve found few halls here but some don’t have tables and chairs, some are too pricey for such a small event. What do you ladies (or gents) suggest? I know there are countless little halls everywhere, even buildings have some nice ones but I honestly can’t go around Toronto looking for one. I figured maybe someone here has had a dawat or such an event, so please give me some suggestions. I’m looking a community hall that can accommodate about 80-100 people.

i think GTA has more to offer but nearest to ur location wud be in Waterloo...and, i think the best place wud be either Breithupt Centre which has a very nice adjacent park or Bingeman Park which has a lovely Hall for all occasions...it's located inside a recreational park :)

condo halls are always a good option- they're cheap and usually done up very nicely. do you know anyone who lives in a condo and might be able to arrange the rental of the hall for you?

Thanks KKF for your kind wishes. Both of those places are a bit too pricey for something as small as a mayoun dawat.

Now that I think about it, I don'tknow anyone living in a cando. Maybe a friend of a friend or something? That sounds a lot better then a community centre, because I once attended a birthday party in a condo party room and it was quite nice.

ISNA Mosque ( Islamic Society of North America) in Mississauga has pretty good halls for private functions and events. It is a great place that suits any functions/parties for Muslims.

^ I don't think masjid is a good place to do mayoun. That seems very disrespectful

No, its not actually a masjid , its more of a community centre that also has a masjid/highschool/bookshop/stores in it . I have myself attended a birthday party there.
