Hey all, I am keen to apply to a community college here in Cali. I need some information. Are the community colleges good? Will I really be able to graduate in 2 years and then proceed onto a College to complete my Bachelors?? Need help.. Pls share your experience
There are a lot of good community colleges in California. California also covers a lot of ground on a geographical map. Where are you looking?
Regarding transfer of credit hours after two years, many universities will accept almost all, if not all of them from a community college. This saves a lot of dollars in the long run and when you graduate, you get a degree from the university.
In many of the community colleges, they will give you a list of credit hours/classes depending on degree selection. This can be taken to the uni and verified for transfer as well. It ensures zero loss of credit hours and are usually accomplished within two years unless degree plan is changed. Some will even allow you to take an extra semester of classes and grab an associate degree on the way to uni. Not a bad thing to have in your pocket if you ask me. There are many benefits to starting in community colleges that are not seen when coming straight out of high school. I can tell you a lot more but don’t want to repeat things you may already know.
Hope this helps.

Re: Community Colleges in California
My thing with California community college is that most are getting compacted, and that a friend who has gone told me that for her it would take three years to complete the pre requisite for uni or college, when originally designed it was made to be done in two years, but it still possible but difficult.
But honestly when thinking going to any community college my philosophy get in and get out, don’t waste time push yourself and move on, I know many people who waste four or more years in community college and that’s just ridiculous, however I think the idea is good, the classes are more bearable, and affordable. Totally recommend it, it’s really good, however I heard some colleges are starting to restrict transfer students, ahhh! But it kwl most likely you’ll get in wherever you apply, or whatever your plans may be. Good Luck
