Commonwealth Bank Series, 6th Match: Australia v Sri Lanka at Sydney, Feb 17, 2012

17.6
Mathews to MEK Hussey, OUT, and he’s gone next ball. Mathews is beside himself with glee. He keeps this on a length just outside off, and Hussey tries to be cheeky as he plays the late dab to third man. The ball kisses the outside edge and heads straight into Sanga’s gloves.

Malinga to Forrest, 1 run, much shorter length, the ball jumps up from a length and Forrest fends airily behind point. Second time he's done that today, but there's no one to catch.

Perera to DJ Hussey, 1 run, Malinga's dropped him! Sri Lanka's first blemish in the field. Short and wide from Thisara, David got under it and slashed it in the air towards third man. The ball didn't go too high, but it was going straight to Malinga, who couldn't hold on as it sailed into his lap.

Maharoof to Christian, no run, Nearly another return catch for Maharoof, but it has gone down. Pitched up to Christian, who booms the straight drive in the air straight back. The ball was travelling and Maharoof did quite well to adjust and get his right hand out to the ball. But it didn't stick.

Gizmo replays awaited on the Christain decision. In any case, this is interesting now. Aus and SL both want the DRS, but they can’t have it in this game since India don’t like it?

4.13 pm: Rain halts play. It was threatening to happen right through the day, and the clouds have finally opened up. It is only a light drizzle at the moment, so hopefully the break won't be for long. Ah well, it is picking up we are informed. The good thing is that the SCG has world-class drainage facilities, so we could be back on quickly once the heavens relent.

Herath to McKay, OUT, on your bike, young man. Classic left-arm deception from Herath, whose tossed up the left-arm spinners all over. He slyly slides in the arm ball, faster and straight from a slightly shorter length this time. McKay didn't pick it as he thrust the pad forward and played outside the line. The ball thuds into the foam in line with off, and it seems to be crashing into middle.

It is going to be a 41 overs-a-side affair. Australia have only one over of batting Powerplay. And funnily, we will have a 30-minutes innings break.

Malinga to DJ Hussey, no run, dropped by Mathews at short extra cover. it went dead straight at him, but he is standing close in, and that was hit quite hard. Full ball, punched off the middle. Straight in, straight out.

McKay to Dilshan, OUT, Australia will breathe easy, they have a wicket finally. Length ball wide of off stump, the line most likely to trouble a batsman. Dilshan throws his bat at it and gets a thick edge straight to the slip fielder.
