If Angelo Mathews had not gifted a no ball six, India had lost it. Dhoni's running was terrible, ran out both Gambhir and Pathan.

Reading the comments in the Pak-England 2nd ODi threas about over-grafting and leaving too much to do at the slog overs reminds me of what Dhoni has been doing of late. He got lucky, so got the accolades. He could easily have been the sole reason for India's losses in both games due to his slooooww strike rate, especially in the Australia game.

GA - disagree with analysis. Gambhir did not suffer from nervous nineties - he was adjudged LBW previous game - replays showed he was not out. Dhoni ran him out in this match. Beyond Gambhirs control both times.
Dhoni's strike rate was abysmal in the prveious game that I saw in ites entirety. Reading reports, for this game, he again bogged down the run rate. also ran Irfan Pathan out.
If he just did his job, in both games, victory would have been comfortable.
I stand corrected re. Gambhir. still very unlucky to miss out on a hundred for the second successive game
I will cut Dhoni some slack. The poor guy is doing THREE jobs at the same time, captaining the side, wicket-keeping and batting often in tense situations and dare I say doing a pretty good job at the moment. I have great regard for Dhoni as an ODI batsman. He is not only a clean hitter of the ball but also better than some of his more illustrious teammates at closing/finishing games (in the limited overs format). It takes special skill and talent to place the ball into gaps under pressure.
