Common Eating habits in Punjabis

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

I'm not sure if this is across the board, but I've seen them eat zarda with raita.

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

but yeah i do eat haleem wid naan/ roti:hehe:

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

we never use chanaa in fruit-chaat, and have never seen chanaa in fruit chaat, neither at someone's home nor at a restaurant....

maybe u saw one person and u generalized it over all of punjab....

have seen many ppl eat haleem with nan even in karachi....

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

Just curious, what is wrong with what you mentioned above though you can't judge all punjabis based on couple of ppl.

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

Ok so how do "others " eat haleem ? with a spoon or what ? its supposed to be eaten with nan, roti , no???

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

If you eat rice with your hand you feel as if you have'nt eaten anything! By the way Punjabis prefer roti over rice yet they produce very best of the rice in the world!

I was in Lahore back in 1990 to watch Pakistan play Holland in the world cup final! I found many people selling fruit chat with chick peas! It was quite strange for me! But it was really very delicious! (and healthy too - not a junk one)!

Overall Lahoris eat good healthy food! You can find peoply eating mangoes on road over there which is not common elsewhere in the country.

They put peras in lassi making it too heavy! People can afford to have these things in the past but with changing lifestlyes they are proving health hazards! Heart diesases and high blood pressures!

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

We dont do any of the things you mentioned, in our gaon we use forks :cb:

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

what is haleem?

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

what is haleem?

And, no i don't put chickpeas in fruit chaat...eeeeeeugh!

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

no u do:barbie:..

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

You got it all wrong, we do NOT put chana in fruit chaat.

And only Lahoris eat Haleem, few other cities consume Haleem.

Punjabi diet is usually simple, meat the most favourite and sbazi, daal etc. cooked in simple way.

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

ok hardcore punjabis here…

definitely put channae and mirchain in fruit chaat…i didn’t know that was a punjabi thing but we def do it…its yummmmmmy

resent that anyone should think it vile…if you don’t like it fine, but i don’t think you have to be rude about it :snooty:

as for haleem…i’m personally not a fan, but i’ve seen it both with naan and with a spoon

and the roti thing is true…i love chawal too actually, but my family is def about the roti…and nothing but real roti tastes good…who wants to eat naan? the only problem now is when im on my own and no mama to make it…then i’ll be eating rotis the shape of africa :snooty:

one thing i don’t know of most punjabis having tho is nehari…we NEVER have that in our house

we are NOT gross :smilestar:

my mama is the BEST cook i know :snooty:

Re: Common Eating habits in Punjabis

invite us over for dinner some time

I don’t like haleem.
Girls in punjab eat channa chat with chilli.

I do like eating rice with hand— i mean picking up meat in plate rice then eat it–with hands..
I love it.

There in no such thin as punjabi food–in punjab people eat all kind of food as
balochi saji
bihari kabab

etc etc
