Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

incase you’r forgetting, this is Pakistan we’r talking about where no one gives a crap about professionalism.

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

Big “LOL” on Armughal’s idiotic comments in a cricket forum :rotfl:.

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

exactly!!

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

if you’d look around, you’d notice everyone else is laughing at YOU.

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

Bob Woolmer and Kaneria, both non-muslims, yet integral for the “team spirit”.

Everything is going well because the team is winning, had they lost then no one wud have been talking about team spirit blah blah blah. Woolmer, a non-muslim is the architect of this team then with Kaneria used as a weapon.

Once again, this forum is for cricketing comments, Iam amazed how selective the mods can be in editing and blocking threads. Had someone started a religious thread on general it wud have been removed immediately.

Pakistan has always been blessed with great cricketers of various religious, social and ethnic backgrounds. Being a team requires complete professionalism which does not tolerate any religious, political, social discrimination. Asserting religion as the fundamental lever responsible for creating unity and harmony ignores the time and effort put in by Bob Woolmer, the real force behind this team.

Those who wish to paint everything with a religious tint should do so on the religious section, if they do not understand this simple aspect then they are a bunch of morons who have their heads stuck up their place where the sun does not shine.

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

I would like to see Kaneria taking 10 wickets and Woolmer piling up some 400+ runs to get Pakistan win over England.

Jokes aside I think people here fail to understand Shoaib’s (own) words about “NIMAAZ”. I read the article twice but could not find anywhere Shoaib mentioning Kaneria and Woolmer praying along with him and Inzi. His comments are towards him and specifically Inzi+Shoaib relation. I watched his interview on ARY (forgot to record) where he mentioned the same thing when he was asked about his consistency, and a new changed Shoaib. He said thats all because of praying 5 times and Inzi being a good leader who understand and give respect to “BOYZZZ”.

I don’t understand why people are so worried if it was the NIMAAZ that changed Shoaib or if its due to prayer that Pak team is producing some results. If you believe its all because of Woolmer architect and Kaneria spin well thats good for you and keep praising them but if you think its due to NIMAAZ and the whole team is united due to NIMAAZ thats even better and keep on praying for PAK, at the end its Pakistan what matters not Woolmer, Kaneria, Inzi or Shoaib.

Kaneria is the only non-muslim in the team and you guys are taking Shoaib’s comments directly towards Kaneria but forgetting other 10 members…bale wi bale

Re: Comments from a "transformed Shoaib Akhtar"

Much ado about nothing.

Shoaib has turned a new leaf, if he can attribute that towards Islam more power to him. We can already see the impact it is having on team performance. Certainly it is a far cry from "its just me against the top Aussie batsmen". If memory serves correctly, Woolmer and Kaneria were also on that tour :).

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

what is the problem guys? You always have to create a controversy regarding shoaib:smack:

OK lets dissipate this situation and start a new controversy. Shoaib akhtar will be the captain of the Pakistan team after inzi retires. Karlo baat:mocking:
Now atleast we can get rid of the crap currently going on in this thread:p

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

That would mean it will be Shoaib vs. the rest of the world, and we wouldn’t want that to happen, do we?

Yehh ! Now I am certain that these ‘plantters’ are targeting “Shoaib” to lure more
guppies and then strike a “RELIGIOUS” blow :Dwhen you’r not looking.

I think Relig forum must be fartingly Pu’lutting, know ?

dhobi bhai ,lay off Shoaib and like Lennon bhai marhoom said "let it be and speak words of wisdom, let it be "

Re: Comments from a “transformed Shoaib Akhtar”

To note, the sole reason of my post was a little sarcasm with a little humor in-between, and was not meant to go against for his recent brilliant performance.

Re: Comments from a "transformed Shoaib Akhtar"

lets concentrate on tomorrow's ODI.

Re: Comments from a "transformed Shoaib Akhtar"

Interesting discussion, I must say.

The way I look at it, this is a great interview by Shoaib. He has certainly learnt the art of saying the right things. Kudos to him. My general preference, however, remains that sportsmen should try to remain shut up, and let their achievements on the sporting field do the talking. Then again, I am sure there are ocassions when the sportsmen feel a need to speak up in the spirit of communicating with their fans as well as to create some psychological connection with their opponents.

The comment regarding namaz is very interesting, indeed. Shoaib is clearly making a deeper point than a superficial comment. He is always thought of as the "party boy" and the "wild one" in the team. Clearly he has changed. Whether the change is brought by him forced out of the team for India and West Indies tour, or whether its the goodness of the rest of the players that has rubbed off him or, to be very cynical, he is playing along on the religious card to get on the good side of the Man at the Power right now, Inzamam, is any body's guess. I will give Shoaib the benefit of the doubt and say more power to him.

Some people have a legitimate argument against overt mixing of religion with sports. The comments about Kaneria and Woolmer are well-grounded. If the unity in the team is at the expense of cutting out non-muslims than, naturally, fans of the team will be worried. Pakistan, while 95%+ muslim is still a multi-cultural and multi-religious society and presence of Youhana (prior to his embracing Islam) and Kaneria, i.e. 2 out of 11 show-cased the opportunities available to all Pakistanis regardless of religion. Having said that, its a good thing that our team has found solace in religion. Offering regular salat keeps them away from many vices.

Put it this way. I'd rather read that the team regularly prays to Allah, God, Bhagwaan, and is unified in their pursuit of getting the blessings from Almighty, than to read that they are unified as a bunch of clubbing and drinking buddies. Sportsmen, especially at the highest level, are amazingly superstitious. That they are finding solace in prayers is great news.
