Re: Combating Hair loss...?

Hey, I was diagnosed with PCOS about four years ago, and my doctor put me on the pill. I've been to my doctor numerous times about my hair loss situation, but he's just fogged me off. I hadn't realised that PCOS could have been the culprit for my locks to be falling out.

I'll get him to run through some tests though. Thanks for making me aware of this.

:)

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

posho, my doctor says that taking metformin will help with hair loss. i also have pcos. but i have been on it for 4 months and no improvement. i guess you could massage your head with mustard oil or something.

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

Hair oils don't do anything beneficial for me. My hair itself is very healthy, they are in really good condition. The only downfall is this mysterious hair loss.

Metformin? What is that? Why has the doctor prescribed that for you? Is it an aid for your hair falling out?

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

isnt metformin for diabetes?

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

You are welcome, Barfee and Posho. smile

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

Posho,

First of all I am not angel who will get "wahi" that u are female, secondly I did provide you one totka that happens to work only if you have some hair on ur head.

Thats a joke I was doing with my friend & didn't mean to hurt ur feelings, but the way you are behaving u dont sound 20, u sound 12 years old spoiled child. I can only wish that if dont change ur attitude then u better be ganji than having hair.

Re: Combating Hair loss…?

regular bpill is no good for PCOS..
some of them can even be causing cancer on women with PCOS!!
you need something called anti androgens molecules to treat your hair loss problem:blush: …if you wish it

i don’t have this treatment cause it causes fat increase and muscle loss to me…i take only pregesterone to get periods …but it is not treating the PCOS..just stabilising it!

there are two ways to treeat naturally PCOS:
if it is due to weight surplus: loosing belly fat is a solution
if it is due to nubility (never having been pregnant) having a baby is the cure!
(my endocrinologist told me…and i reasearched internet on the topic)

FOR YOUR HAIR PROBLEM:
vitamins are very helpfull too…i took a combo of B5, B6, H vitamin!
and you need to treat any dandruff problem…use only natural shampoos without chemicals…found in organics shop…as chemical tend to asphyxiate the scalp and increase hairloss…
if you need address of organic shampoo i know some french company address…you may purchase online…but it might be cheaper to buy them in a shop!

i have this condition (PCOS) but Allah ka shukar my hair is still big cause i had baturally very much hair…so hair loss has not affected it too much…but i took vitamins…and i am carefull about shampoos…and i brush my hair only with natural brush made of wildpig hair…

PM me if you need more info:blush: ! :hugz:

ps, english GP are witches they have no clue about modern medicine forget them:D …come to france we have serious doctors here:blush:

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

Metformin is a drug used to stabilise diabetes (maily in obese people).....if you have a big belly that big belly could be a first symptom for prediabete...and metmorfin could help both weightloss and PCOS and hair loss of course......

what is BIG BELLY? measure your waist line....and your hip line
then divide waistline by hipline
if the result is over 0.9 for a women...you have BIG BELLY, but the "ideal" number for fertile women is 0.7!

BUT i have PCOS and no prediabete (my belly is thin, 0.7 ratio ;))....so not all women with PCOS need metmorfin....

check with an endocrinologist!

Re: Combating Hair loss…?

and you sound like a child that ignores that only females…and some transexual, do hairstyle and blowdrying:snooty:

besides joking about ones feelings is very immature and providing no serious advices just show your ignorance…do your homework for secondary school before posting

thanks :rose:

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

parissenoor,

Would u like to be sweared at ?

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

LOL ok guys stop fighting

Anyway Posho, it is probably worrying for you but try not getting stressed out about it as it will only make the situation worse. Have you been under any kind of stress lately? That could also be a facor.

Re: Combating Hair loss…?

I dn’t need to do all this fancy shmancy math to know I have a big tiddh :bummer:

Re: Combating Hair loss...?

To be honest, I wouldn't say I was fat. I'm quite petite. Small in height. Size 8 top, size 10/12 bottoms.... But then again, my weight has yo-yo-ed in the past. I'm determined to sort this out, before it goes beyond repair. Well, ideally, I want this problem resolved before I get married. I don't my hair looking all thin on the wedding. Thats in like 2 years. :(

Puchi Kuchi:- I would say that, that I can be extremely stressed at times, what with living away from home and studying at university. But I feel as though, I have it under control, and I'm good at supressing my feelings. However, subconsciously, I maybe very stressed, but I'm unaware - if that makes sense? :|

I just need to go see my GP asap. Some people have said to me, to tell my GP to refer me to a dermatologist... Is that a good idea?

Parissenoor - Whats a endocrinologist?? Thanks for your feedback. You gave some good advice. Thanks for taking the time out to reply to my post, babe... I appreciate it... it's nice that you guys understand where I'm coming from. :)

Thanks everyone else. Well the ones that contributed with some positive feedback.

Re: Combating Hair loss…?

Posho,

Endrocrinologists deal with weight issues, hormone issues, diabetes, etc. Because they are hormone specialists, they are good to see in this case. Dermatologist should also be helpful since it is a hair issue. If you can possibly do a phone consultation before going in, that would be best, because you dont want to go dermatologist to have them refer you to an endocrinologist or vice versa.

Re: Combating Hair loss…?

dermatologist is specialist of the skin…BUT endocrinologist is a specialist in HORMONAL problems…as you have PCOS it means you have hormonal problems…and SHOULD go to endocrinologist…if you GP has not refered you to endocrinologist for PCOS it means it is NOT a serious doctor…as i said most UK GP are witches:bummer:
