Re: Colouring black hair
If you can resist then don’t change it! I bleached my virgin hair and it did damage. What might be of interest to you:
~highlights/streaking (damaging only stripped hair, easy to maintain, more highlights more damage/less highlights, less damage)
~Dye (semi-permanent or permanent, both will fade eventually, maintain new growth, buy color treated shampoos)
~An ombre effect (most damage at tips, gradually up to mid-shaft)
~ A dye to uplift black and highlights or streaks for a 2 toned dimensional look…very pretty!
With anything you choose, please start gradually. If you eventually want to go platinum blond space out your processes/appointments 3-4 months apart and in a year you’ll get your desired look.
Bleaching strips the hair of its pigment. This process causes damage. One way to “reverse” the damage is to deposit back into the hair, which means to add color to it. A darker color after a strip process seemingly makes it look healthier and shinier. Please note, a strip process is permanent whereas a dye is a deposit and can fade.
Hope that shed some light!
That DOES help too- thanks! in terms of covering up a few grey hairs then (on my natural colour)…would just a root touch up solution be best? And at the salon or at home? Will this also damage hair?
