Colors in your language

Re: Colors in your language

In Sindhi:

yellow = phikko (There is famous line when a person is suffering from disease and have blood definiciency: Phikko jehRi haida: As pale as turmeric - Haldi). From influence of other languages 'Peelo' is also used for yellow.

Red = ghaRho (Now there are no words for maroon. They say halko ghaRho = light red or tez GhaRho = strong red)

Blue = Neero

Orange = Narangi (both fruit and color are 'Narangi'). Geroo (Gerwa in Hindi) is also used especially for Sufi attire of orange color. Ornage is also called Turnj (raw form ornage fruit is called turnj), but this is rarely used now

Green= Sa'o (Now there is different shades of green. One is know as 'totai' i.e. parrot color).

Violet = Wangnai (Wangan = eggplant)
