Collingwood is a key member of England’sone-day team
Durham and England all-rounder Paul Collingwood expects to be out of action for at least six weeks after dislocating his left shoulder.
Collingwood was injured when he dived to the ground to stop the ball during a one-day friendly against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
He stayed on the ground for several minutes in obvious pain before being carried off on a stretcher by four team-mates and is now due to have a scan to assess the damage.
"We’ve had some great weather over the last few weeks, and the ground is a bit hard at the moment.
“It’s unfortunate. I would say a minimum of six weeks (out) but we will have to wait and see the results of the scans,” Collingwood said.
He established himself as a key member of England’s one-day side since making his debut in 2001.
In 38 appearances so far, he has scored 874 runs, including a World Cup century against Sri Lanka, and taken 16 wickets.
The 26-year-old will miss the start Durham’s Championship campaign, which is a blow to his hopes of staking a claim for a Test place.
He should be fit, however, for the three-match NatWest Challenge against Pakistan in June, and the triangular series against Zimbabwe and South Africa which follows
