get this, full time college teachers only work 18 - 20 hours max per week! Salary rates are from 60- 100k (average is 80k), most teachers work only 8 months of the year! And now they are complaining about money and workload? its all bullsh*T!

Furqan, I'm not exactly sure what the specific demands of the teachers are... but being in academia at the University level, I can tell you that there's much more than meets the eye... the 18 to 20 hours is typically the time teachers would spend in what I'd call the "front-office", i.e. teaching, office hours, meetings etc. - but trust me when I say this... they spend at least twice as much doing back-office work, i.e. preparing for lectures, assignments, and exams... marking them, updating curricula etc.
On top of all this, most institutions these days insist on pedagogical or empirical research alongwith community service. The reasons for this being that colleges and universities are engaged in fierce competition and are counting on building their name and reputation through research and philantropical initiatives.
At the University, my average work week is about 85 hours long, with 100+ hours not being an alien concept at all. We too are facing similar problems with larger class sizes and diminishing support in the form of teaching assistance, but thankfully, our unions have been able to reach generally acceptable resolutions over the past two years.

dont get me wrong - I love school, professors and books etc..
but once in a blue moon you wish there was no school and you get one long weekend every month…
