Ontario college teachers want:
-a reduction in teaching hours from 14 to 12 and/or no increase in workload, which would cost colleges a lot of money
-12.6% increase in salary of the span of 4 years
-two step coordination over 4 years, which would perhaps give more authority to teachers as well as increase salary
-reduce the faculty to student ratio to 23-1, which is currently at 28-1
How is this going to affect us?
-a further increase in tuition fee
Also, OPSEU claims that students won't lose a school year or anything of that sort. It has never happened in the past and won't happen now. Last two strikes were in 1984 and 1989 (i think).

I'd like to see the day when college students go on strike. At least one of my professors thinks that we should take action given that we aren't getting enough bang for the buck.

OK this stupid strrike is just B.S! they were interviewing the teachers on cityTv, and they were asked what they wanted? Basically they wanna reduce the class size to lower head count. So shes was like right now there is about 30, and about 25 or 26 would be Normal! Yeah so these teachers are screwing over students summer, for 5 less students?

its all about the money. Last year they got a raise (when they threatened to strike). Now, again its the same story.

and y does teacher care?? Come on on universities its happening like that? In my university there were minimum 200 students and goes up to 400!! Our teachers never did strike

It's not so much about the class size.
I'm sure it has more to do with the amount of money they make.
Also, from what I've heard the other union (that includes essential services) is getting a bigger chunk of some pension plan. Therefore, the teachers want more or less the same.
