my baby starts crying everynight by 11 or 12 and this goes on till 3-4 a.m. She just doesn’t want to lie down and sleep , she wants me to just keep her close with my chest. I took her to dr he said it’s evening colic and it will be gone in a months time and there is no medication for it. It find it very painful myself to see my baby crying bcuz of tummy pain. plz share ur experience and how u dealt with it ?
Re: colic.....any solution ?
hav u tried grip water or tummy massage? try to find out wat's causing it otherwise just deal with it. it will go away. unfortunately they hav no cure. when she cries hard be with her, take a bath together or massage her or just rock her. taking kids for a drive or walk calms them too. u just hav to see wat works for ur baby.
Re: colic.....any solution ?
gripe water helps and also pat on the back of the baby while baby is head leans on ur shoulder...
Re: colic.....any solution ?
gripe water works only for an hour or 2 max. I have read its more common with preterms and more the baby cries more air goes inside causing tummy pain
Re: colic.....any solution ?
i don't know if gas can go in while crying but u can burp after every feed. if u breastfeed chances r less if bottlefed then make sure the bottle is straight n she is in half sitting position in ur lap. don't feed while she lays straight. also one the bottle is half empty gas collects inside the bottle due to sucking so make effort to keep the bottle more filled.
put her on her tummy for a while with a rolled towel beneath n massage her back and then change her position massage her tummy n feet. u can put a warm towel(out of drier or pressed with hot iron...not too hot though) on her tummy too if u think its gas.
Re: colic.....any solution ?
Colic is horrible and any totka or med will only work for a very short while. The only thing that ive seen work is keeping the baby in a flying position like an airplane. Pressure on the tummy will help. My friend used to sleep in a recliner holding her baby like that. The baby would also sleep on her tummy but they had to leep an eye that she not suffocate. Both these positions worked with our neice aswell.
Re: colic.....any solution ?
putting her on her tummy does help ! but as soon as i put her on tummy she starts playing and there is no sign of sleep , warm towl technique also didnt help . I guess like the dr have said it will go on 4 a month then things will ease up.
thanku mabrook , khawateen & khalil for your advices :)
Re: colic.....any solution ?
1 tesspoons fenel seed, 1 teaspoon ajwain seed boil in water for 10 min , and drain all water give this to ur baby with dropper or spoon, its help, when my little one had same problem,, also try give him /her massage on tummy
Re: colic.....any solution ?
^Saunf and ajwain is supposed to help. Also hold her so that she has pressure on her belly, will help get rid of gas. Most importantly, just hang in there, something magical happens around the 3 month mark and your baby goes from being a crying lump to a smiling human person. Please, just hang in there, it gets better, I promise. Inshallah, in a few months, you won't even remember these tough times, that's when you can send me some jalebi for my wisdom.
Re: colic.....any solution ?
A drop of Infacol before every feed helps a lot. My baby used to cry the whole night and I had to keep him in a carrier strapped onto my chest because I was tired of carying him the whole time. His doctor prescribed a drop of a Infacol before every feed and he got better every soon.

my doc asked me to make milk in this ajwain n saunf water it helps alot
Re: colic.....any solution ?
I exclusively breast fed my baby for six months and didn't give him an kind of water so couldn't use the ajwain n saunf water even though many aunties kept recommending the stuff.
Re: colic.....any solution ?
My son always found some comfort in his bouncy seat which had vibration. Also, if you raise the head of his mattress by stuffing a blanket or pillow underneath. This keeps the head a bit raised and helps prevent gas and refluxing.
The gripe water did help my son too - but like yours, only for a little while. Mylicon gas drops helped a bit more. Also a little bit of benefiber inhis bottle helped him. These are over the counter things but there are also prescriptions that can help your little one. If your doc isnt giving you the answers and help you're looking for, try a pediatric GI doc. They specialize in this kind of thing and will be able to figure out if its reflux, constipation, gas, colic or a combination of these. Gone are the days where parents need to just "deal" with an uncomfortable baby.
Hope she gets better soon!
