Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend - What is wrong in this video?

What is cultural wrong in this video? Twitter was outraged by Indians. Bollywood is producing more anti cultural videos songs. I feel Coldplay done better job than Bollywood typical vulger songs.

Yeh I don't get it.
I liked the video - what particularly did they find offensive?

Re: Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend - What is wrong in this video?

Shot in Mumbai, the four-minute video is yet another tired attempt to capture India for a Western audience. And it comprises every possible Indian stereotype: levitating sadhus, henna tattoos, colour-smeared street kids playing Holi, some fire breathing, brightly dressed puppeteers, and even a bioscope.

Coldplay goes off tune with its cliched weekend hymn for India—but it’s not the only one - Quartz

Arent all those ingredient promoted by Bollywood to Western audiences. Why blame Coldplay?

Bounce by Aussie singer Iggy Azalea… :hmmm:

Re: Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend - What is wrong in this video?

that video is the equivalent of making biryani with madras curry powder, brown rice, and tofu. dumb, but not particularly outrage-worthy. but indians love their drama and overreaction. will coldplay ever make music like they did in parachutes? every track on that album was gold. now we get this bs..

Re: Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend - What is wrong in this video?

There is a time and place for everything. I happen to think everything they show is beautiful - a compliment.
Why complain?

If this was a world tech convention and all they could show for India was Holi then I’d be mad. But its a video!!!
Karo unko bother so no other band ever wants to go there to make a video.
:smh:

Re: Coldplay - Hymn For The Weekend - What is wrong in this video?

there is no ****ting in streets. that's what's wrong.
Haven't seen one indian outraged but from what I've seen most of them are defending the video. Just media stirring things up/
