We are in an era where the use of plastic money and what not has already reduced the use of paper money to a bare mimimum. In such a situation, do you think it makes sense to keep the coins in circulation? (they being heavy and make your pant pockets look funny and what not).
I for one, for all practical purposes have discontinued the use of coins as a store of value that can buy me things. To me they are useful only to scratch prepaid internet cards and the likes
I think coins have lost their appeal and their usage has reduced. Coins don’t buy me stuff now…and even beggers hurl them back at me when offered.
In Europe coins still count for a lot. 5 francs can get you a coke yippee! Anyway they are stil in use becuase they dont want to introduce currency that small plus the costs are far more for producing paper notes from what i have heard. I am not sure though.
Babay: Aap ne to sharminda kar dia. sharmindagi mitaate huay main to apnay limited local perspective se baat kar raha tha. Your idea ain't bad btw.
dd: aap ne to ace maar dia hai jee.
You guys seem to have a lot more uses for the coins...hmm, so it makes sense for us to get rid of them but not you. In any event, i can imagine what havoc coin-based vending machines can wreak here with people trying their level best to get the machine to spit out coins instead of cokes :p
Khanjada bhai - Aapne to COINs ki bahot hi be-izzati ki. Mian Iske jimmewar to aap jaise log hain jo 50 paise ko 'Athannee' aur 25 paise ko 'Chawanni' jaise chhote naam se bulate hain.
I use my coins to make a wish every time I cross the Nizamuddin Bridge over Yamuna River in New Delhi. ;)
Asif: Make a wish from me next time you cross the river. Make sure you throw a good coin, haan? kharab wala na phenk dena..wish ne khaak qabool hona hai
Fraudiay: I had seen a 10 paisa and 5 paisa when i was young and used to be in hyderabad. Havent seen an aik and half paisa myself. Good idea, i will ask my bank guys to see if i can get them. But you gotta pay a price for that, kia khayal hai partner?
waleed: aap kia sabzi bech rahe hain yahan..inflation ne hum ko nikamma kar dia..warna aadmi hum bhi thay kaam ke!
I guess other than Pakistan coins are being used in a lot of diff places. In Canada they have the Toony (2 dollar coin) and a Loony (1 dollar coin) and they come in very handy (ofcourse there's the issue with the bulk in ur pants).
Fraudia, I think my mother has a 1 paisa (or was it 1/2 paisa) coin saved somewhere. It had a hole in the middle, if I remember correctly. I only saw it once.
tofi baba i only saw it as a prop used by my nana a while back, never saw it in circulation the 1/2 paisa that is. aik paisa was in use in pakistan back in early 80's I was a kid then and recall having a few.

I will give u $5 for each coin, in terms of exchange rate, that is an amazing comission you will be making.
