If you have those concerns then they are valid, but complications would be the worst case scenario, many women have the coil for upto 5 years with no complications at all. As GTG has said Paragard (the copper coil) has no hormones if that is what you are worried about, but doesn’t help with heavy periods.

I have watched both mirena & copper coils being inserted and to be honest it does look painful (I am not going to lie) but most women handle it, and they don’t have any anaesthetic. Taking it out is not painful at all, they literally just pull on the threads and it is out.

You need to just decide whichever method you are most comfortable with. Above are all the methods I know to be available in the UK. It is your body at the end of the day, so just make sure you are happy with which method you would like to use.

can you have an anaesthetic…i hate pain. i had a skin tag removed few days ago from my neck and even with an anaesthetic, i still flinched, and squirmed and literally had palpitations even though no pain was being felt. even at smear tests i nearly end up crying. so hence why im worried about the coil.

as far as i know pill dont cause wight gain,…am i right.
