Coffee

What makes a coffee ‘good coffee’…??? I mean what should be there to to rate a cup of coffee as ‘good’

I’m not a coffe/tea person…n the cups of coffee I’ve ever had are yet to go in double digits so I wouldn’t know..

Now I’m curious to now the charecteristics, please..!!!

Anyone???

Re: Coffee

I cannot drink black coffee - tastes absolutely nasty to me.
I can do a mocha, latte, or capaccuino - btw Caramel Mocha is :yummy:

Re: Coffee

Afia I am like you, not a tea or coffee person, but try black coffee (without sugar) and hot chocolate (50:50).

Re: Coffee

the beans are very important...the beans that starbucks uses are very very high quality for example...and the coffee beans your regular street vendor uses arent so good quality.

Re: Coffee

mostly depends on

  1. Freshness: how freshly roasted and ground the coffee is before you fix the coffee,
  2. Coffee Maker/Style: how quickly coffee is extracted from the ground powder before it leaches yucky acidic stuff too into your drink
  3. Filter: never use bleached white coffee filters unless you like the odor of bleach killing your coffee's taste.

what you like finally from all the different coffee bean varities is your individual taste. (i personally prefer dark nutty roasts, black)

but without a way to get fresh ground coffee (not exposed to air after roasting for more than a few hrs), and a good coffee maker, there is no point in blowing money on exotic beans.

and starschmucks is a scam.

Re: Coffee

Umm i usually drink coffee to get fresh..consume caffiene..so i prefer dark black strong strong coffee..i like it!
I nver buy the coffee beans..i just go for ready to go grounded coffee...and for that i buy Nescafe!

Re: Coffee

You guys are forgetting flavor shots :o

Re: Coffee

I’m just like you. I can’t drink regular coffee or regular tea because it makes me feel nauseous. If I do decide to drink something, it’s usually a cappuccino, mocha or a latte

Re: Coffee

The beans need to be fresh
I see so many cafes who leave their beans in the hopper overnight
Big no no noooooooooooooo
they should be tight lided and place into the fridge.

The arabs usually use arabica beans so do greek and other ppl, the beans are bitter and hard to drink in coffee
but if you have the western beans they have chocolate beans mixed with 'em and the aroma is wondeful chocoalte+coffee

Plus the way the milk is frothed
I hate people who overheat the milk, it smells

as for different coffees, i’ve yet to have a perfect latte
half the time its a cap and the other its a flat

nobody can get the perfect latte froth right

I miss my coffee making days, man the tips  and the compliments.

One dude used to come every thursday on the dot and i always made sure i had fresh soy milk for him waiting.

Imo adding flavor to coffee is an insult.
Esp people who drink Mochas, either you drink coffee or have chocoalte milk

Re: Coffee

Hve you tried Vietnamese Steeped Coffee on Ice? Its a dark brew that is slowly steeped through a strainer then a shot of condenesed milk is added and then ice. Its amazing!

Re: Coffee

lolz. i just had it for the first time last week. it IS amazing. like a wakeup shot. and so amazingly GOOD! hehe at first we couldnt figure out where the coffee was...i opened the top of the strainer and there was water in it....im like "how rude, where's my coffee?" we didnt have ice added in it though...just extra condensed milk...

im not into flavored coffee myself. used to be hooked to frappucino last year but im SO proud i gave that up.

Re: Coffee

Thank you everyone!!

But tell me one thing …all of you are telling me amout beans n all…then who buys those big jars of pwdered coffee (ground beans) from super market …

Infact…I opened this thread coz hubs n I are not into coffee …but now we have visitors like once in two months or so…n considering that average person in germany drinks 900 litres of coffee per year…I thought to buy some …My question was about the prepared coffee mainly. Plus I don’t have a coffee machine …n don’t want to buy one for like 6 visitors in an year…so, any tips/help/???

Re: Coffee

Powdered coffee is for Coffee makers with filters.
You put the grounded coffee in the filter then add water and the water goes through the coffee and filter and collects in the pot underneath.
First image is of that sort of machine.

The coffee beans work with another sort of machine.
The second image is of that sort of machines
Put the beans in the hopper on the top which grinds every time you want a fresh cup.

They are expensive.

Re: Coffee

^
So I assume the second one is for more authentic flavour, LB...???

Re: Coffee

Yes it is.

But because those machines are expensive and people dunno how to use 'em they go for the first type which are cheap and economical plus cater for large groups of people and are easy to use.

Re: Coffee

hmmmm.....n what about the good old way of beating the coffee with fork n preparing it....does it tate bad...????

Re: Coffee

yeah that is yum, i love that coffee, that basically makes a sort of lattee with nice froth.

Re: Coffee

wow....so now I can proudly serve my 'fork-beaten-coffee' to visitors...:)

Thank you LB....hands over her a cup of coffee
:)

Re: Coffee
