Coconut Oil (if natural) has a high level of saturated fat. I'm not sure about purified distilled type versions.

If this person is not taking any carbs in their diet, then yeah sure, a teaspoon of coconut oil every day along with other proteins and fats will help you lose weight. Its called the south beach diet. First two weeks of it.

If they're taking just the coconut oil plus their usual unhealthy carbs, then I doubt the coconut oil is doing anything.
