Coconut Oil & Weight Loss?

I was talking to a friend of mine and he said that he has been taking 3 table spoons of coconut oil everyday and that has helped him burn fat (mainly on his belly area)

how true is that? Well he is a living example infront of me but just wondering if anyone here has tried it?

or any other method to burn that fat. I do have a regular workout routine but that doesn’t seem to be making much difference :slight_smile:

i remember my aunt’s grandmother cooked everything in coconut oil. she lived till after a 100 and i dont remember her dying from any chronic diseases. she also had a full head of hair.

Try this workout… Winsor Pilates… you can get it from youtube and ofcourse always buy the CDs from the market…it works wonders..

i bought the pilates tape about 5 years ago and I haven’t seen much of a difference…but i bought the tape off of the tv commercial…what tape do u use? And from where did u get it? I just bought the balance ball that I will start using it inshallah. Has anyone tried the balance ball pilates tape?

each body is different.... some will have effect on something immediately , while the other dont get any difference..... My workout partner lifts helllllllll of a heavy weight ( that i can just dream of lifting ) but he dont have any cuts nor does he look huge... so it all depends on the type of body u have...

some things that works for almost all , especially to lose weight is : eat less, workout more, burn as much calories as u can ...while eating less.. and fall in love with abdominal exercies..... im sure u'll see the difference ....gotta have patience though.

WHATTTTTTTTT:smack: …i don’t where your friend read about this but coconut oil is very harmful for health since it is very very rich in trans fatty acids or bad fats which is solid at room temperature…it clogs the arteries and leads to High Blo0d Cholestrol level, heart attacks, strokes. The same with Palm oil…sO no don’t ever add coconut or palm oil iny our diet :nono: …by the way, how can consuming oil help in weight loss…oils have the most caloric values…think about this:konfused:

i never heard about THE EXTRA VIRGIN COLD PRESSED COCONUT OIL :no: …the only coconut oil i have ever used or heard about is PURE COCONUT OIL that we use as hair oil and i know in Srilanka and South India, people do use coconut oil for co0king…plus, the coconut oil we purchase has nutrional chart written on it so guess people do use that for co0king purpose as well…so are pure coconut oil and the extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil different:confused: ?..and can somebody elaborate how are these two different?

yes..it was my mistake :bummer: …what i meant is Saturated Fats..the fat that is solid at room temperature

Coconut oil is basically a vegetable oil. It is saturated oil, which can burn the fats .. I read somwhere (which I am still searching how true it is ) that it DOES help in reducing fat by workin on thyroid gland .. now the mechanism behind this.. Im still working on it. Once I fully satisfied, Insha'allah will come back n comment on it. Its highly saturated, which can cause a raise in serum cholesterol n can cause heart disease .. so yea be careful

err correction these are Non-Saturated Fats .. Coconut oil is a saturated fat (single bonds) I dunno who told you its trans fatty acids :-s
