Cocoa powder use

Can anybody tell me how to use cocoa powder in drinks or similar easy recipes cause i have to use it before it expires(very soon) ?

Re: Cocoa powder use

Mix it with icing sugar and vanilla essence and add to double cream and whip, it makes a good chocolate cream topping for cakes or coffee.

Add half a teaspoon to a teaspoon of coffee and sugar to taste. Blend with a little boiling water and top up with milk / water to make chocolate coffee drink (its nice topped with above)

Blend cocoa and sugar with hot milk to a paste and top up with more milk = hot chocolate.

Re: Cocoa powder use

Thanks a lot. I will definately try the coffee one today itself.

Re: Cocoa powder use

It can be good for baking as well. Chocolate and orange sponge cake is so nice.

300g Self raising flour
150g Butter
150g Sugar
2 eggs
2 oranges- zest and juice
4 tablespoons of cocoa powder.

Beat the butter and sugar together till smooth. Whisk in the two eggs. Add the zest and juice of the oranges. Add cocoa powder and mix well. Add flour a little at a time and fold into the mixture.

Line a baking tin. Pour in mixture.

You can just make a plan chocolate sponge even.

^ This is a great way to use up a lot of cocoa powder, make the cake, and post a pic, i say!

Re: Cocoa powder use

Rupay

Try the recipe when you are free. It is sooo nice. I kind of improvised a standard sponge recipe I always use.

I baked it a few weeks ago and it tasted like Terry's Chocolate Orange. It is so nice, fluffy and light. Ooo I think I need to make another one soon.

Re: Cocoa powder use

Hmmm.....i never came across self-raising flour in the market, any substitute for this flour ?

Re: Cocoa powder use

^ Try Plain Flour (Maida) with some baking powder added, the container might give u some idea. Self-raising flour is simply maida with baking agents in it, so u don't need to add any extra.
