I think their ego drowned them. SS wanted to rule Punjab as his jageer and NS was dying to be PM third time. If they act sensibly, they could have easily avoided this like last government. NS proved that he couldn’t learnt a lesson from hardships he faced during all this period of his exile. His mentality is still same like 15-20 years back, when he was inquired his profession in Supreme Court, he replied ’ I’m PM Pakistan’.

Ruling Pakistan/Punjab is not a big deal. I preferred their resignation and handing over power to other PML(N) leaders rather than continue by kissing stinky butts of military. Who knows same military may in future dig few graves in murder trial.
