COAS on WOT

**We did what we had to in war on terror: COAS **

Talking to media after witnessing Pak-Saudi joint military exercises on Thursday, Gen Kayani said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had a very significant role in the war on terror.

He said an army operation in any area was to improve law and order and troops could not stay there permanently, adding that the Pakistan Army had prepared a strategy to avert any terrorist attack from Afghanistan.

He said that military solutions can never be an ultimate solution. The region has enough of military actions, and now is the time to give talks a fair chance, the COAS added.

Gen Ashfaq Kayani said that the main aim of joint exercise was to further strengthen the military to military relationship and share experience of counter terrorism. He said that exercise began with learning and sharing of individual skills.

The aim and objectives set for the exercise had been achieved to its best, he concluded.

In the recent months, Pakistan has been complaining of an upsurge in the cross-border attacks from Afghanistan. The attack intensified as the bordering areas have been abandoned by the NATO and Afghan forces, allowing militants to find safe havens there.

Pak-Saudi joint military exercises took place near Mangla today in an attempt to provide the opportunity to both troops to benefit from each others training experiences. The Pak-Saudi military exercises in Mangla are third such joint exercises. The Saudi chief also monitored the exercises along with COAS Gen Kayani.

Re: COAS on WOT

I believe that peace must be given a chance, but not surrender the area to the militants like we did in Swat.
