Re: Club Criket

I've been playing in a Twenty 20 league for about 3 years now. It's an all asian team and we started of in division 4 and now are in division 2 so have been doing quite well thus far. My highest score so far is 29.

Where do you live ? if you dont mind me asking, let me share something lets c ahh about 6 years ago i never played with leather ball just tape tennis you know, i batted very well i am a left hander also bowled quite decent in tape ball so one of my freinds @ the time decided to join club to play some serious cricket he is very good i mean real good we always tell him agar thore ziada mehnat karta aur USA nahi aya hota he couldve played for U 19 in pak thats how much talent this guys has, so just watching him he made me join the club as well in the begining when i batted i was trying to pull everything you knwo tape ball mentality i wasent timing my shots was very frustrating but when i started to relax on the pitch and playing everball on its merrit runs started to come when i first joined teh club i was always 8,9 or # 10 in batting worked hard improved my batting now i am opening the innings, so yeah patiance is the key my freind when you are on the pitch try to relax and play every ball on its merrit and never let the bowler dominate you mentally.

You are right, club cricket is so much fun. Our team have been playing in Garden State Cricket League for last couple of years. I didn't play last year though. I was wicket keeper and VC. I hope to play against this year or next.

www.berlincc.de our club

I'm from England. Here we have Sunday leagues' where they play 40 overs matches and midweek leagues where they play Twenty20 style cricket. If one is really good there are scouts who can get you into county cricket.

Tape ball :D] that's where it all started from on the streets back home. Some old memories rekindled. You are right, you have to concentrate hard and play each ball on merit. It sounds as though you have done well for yourself by making your way at the top of the order.

I have done well but not that well that could get me a spot in our regional team so i can try to play for USA, that will be awsome to play cricket @ that level.

What is the status of USA National Team? Are they still a part of ICC's Associate Member list, or are they in some other place/stage?

Other than this, the players who comprise of US National cricket team, what are their backgrounds/ethnicities?

There is much of a difference, mentality-wise, in playing tape ball vs. playing with hard ball. Tape ball, everything is touch and go (touch the ball with the bat and run for a single), while the latter is more refined form but even in Twenty/20's, both versions are taken to cleaners.

Re: Club Criket

USA lost to Jersey (UK) in the divisional round of the WC 2011 qualifier a month ago. The two finalists - Jersey and Afghanistan will proceed to the next round in Darassalaam Tanzania in October later this year. The finalists will play the ICC trophy and the top two teams will proceed to the WC in the sub continent in 2011.

USA team is captained by Steve Messiah (Trinidadian) and comprised of Carribbean and Indian/Pakistani players. They have to be US citizen or green card holders to be considered for the USA team.

It’s not very hard to play in the USA national team if you are a very good player. The best route is to participate in one of the local leagues that is recognized by USA Cricket Association (USACA) and perform. USACA holds regional and national tournaments each year in which 8 regions participate. The best performers are selected for national team.

USACA was suspended for one year due to bad management and internal turmoil of the administrators. It was reinstated in April 2008.

For more info go to www.usaca.org or shoot me a PM.
