Cloud Storage

Which cloud storage do you use, and why?

I have tried Carbonite, it’s decent for the price, but it is s.l.o.w. to upload/download. It’s not the internet speed entirely either. Is this problem suffered across all online storage options? What alternative(s) do you recommend?

Re: Cloud Storage

Amazon. I used it for mostly as a blob storage. They have pretty good api to work with.

Re: Cloud Storage

I use google drive for my blogs and sites backup and its pretty cool , i am allowed 15 gb and I think some 9gb is occupied, You can also use drop box, I had used it in past and its awesome ... btw , i used mediafire too, it gave me 100gb space on free account , but some days back, my friend signed up and he was given 10gb only ... so m not sure about it

Re: Cloud Storage

How are the transfer speeds?

Re: Cloud Storage

all have pretty nice servers, you cant compare google drive with anyother in speed

Re: Cloud Storage

Yes, the mainstream cloud storage like Dropbox and Google Drive are better options (for personal files) and Kim Dot Com's new Mega drive is another alternative.

Re: Cloud Storage

Thanks fellaz. Much appreciated. Will try Google Drive and DropBox.

Re: Cloud Storage

Thanks DMD!

Re: Cloud Storage

Dropbox hai ya stargate. But I guess DMD's video would've given you a good start. You using it yet?

I use Dropbox too. Sharing, syncing etc. I also use GDrive, Skydrive, AWS etc. Different services for different phases of life.
I wish someone would come out with an app that would enable users to utilize all the services at the same time.

Re: Cloud Storage

There is apps like that on the apple and perhaps on android side as well, but I don't think that anyone really thinks of that when it comes to PC. They assume that you might as well install everything.

Re: Cloud Storage

No way. My PC I treat more gently than my stomach. I think twice of what I put in it. Specially since i got SSD with only 256GB of space on my drive.
If you start installing everything that comes your way you should think of this saying, "apnay haath se apnay pair per kulhari maro"!

Re: Cloud Storage

I am using dropbox for personal backup from last three years. Its great, never had problem with slowing down or else.

Amazon is another great alternate for large backup storage cheaply.

Re: Cloud Storage

Here’s another one where i created an account at: Congratulations | Cloud Run.
Free 5GB, unlimited storage for $50/year.

They also have apps for Android and iPhone where you can connect to the drive directly from those devices.
