what do women generally wear under abayas in Saudi Arabia around this season? I am thinking it will be hot… i have chiffon dresses, will those be wearable?
or can i just wear tshirts and stuff (much more comfortable)
any idea?

It depends on what kind of abaya I wear .... if it is something that opens at the bottom... I wear track pants and a tank top...if legs are not visible then I wear shorts, bermuda and tank tops if I am gonna run errands out in the heat...
If visiting ppl then since we jump into an air conditioned car asap... just wear regular clothes...sometimes it does get hard to wear silks in the heat...

You can wear whatever you feel comfortable in, as most probably no one will see it. You can wear like thin lawn shalwar kameez, or tshirts and tank tops. As Automne mentioned, some have slits that open up at the bottom, so your pants will show in those. If your abaya is a light colour, make sure you cant see through it when you stand in the light. When I went for Hajj, I remember one of my friends changed into her abaya when we were at the airport. She was wearing a white abaya and when she came out of the bathroom, she was like umm is my abaya a bit see-thru...and we were like, no..its totally see-thru! Luckily she was able to borrow another abaya from someone. So ya, be careful with white or light colours!

Chiffons I think would be rather warm coz u usually have a lining underneath them too. Then an abaya over it makes it 3 layers of clothing. If you r wearing shalwar qameez, I'd recommend pure lawn.
oh btw ... carpdiem... pls be sure and careful when buying the abaya...sometimes ppl who are new to the middle east end up buying abayas that are heavy and too tight and that totally makes wearing an abaya a bad experience...
There are many lightweight silks...that are not see through at all...keep the abaya loose and chances are you will not feel as hot.... but if u get it stitched tight... it will make it tough for you......Also get a lightweight headscarf...... make sure u try it on in the shop... u should not feel suffocated...

I wear a tshirt and light cotton pyjamas or a light cotton shalwar under mine..... as Automne77 said, make sure your abaya is light and don't get it sown too tight.... Just maybe get one from here. You get really nice (and cheap) ones from Madinah....

if you are going there in summer, even chiffon will be too thick. muslin/lawns/cottons are the only fabrics that are tolerable. make sure the abaya is made from a lightweight material. you can wear whatever you like underneath-- jeans, tracks, whatever...

i wore my pajamas underneath my abaya. i got these great linen ones from la senza...every comfortable. other times i wore maxi dresses underneath. just wear something comfortable.
