Clothes for older ladies

Re: Clothes for older ladies

It just depends on your moms personalities. My mom can carry bright colors better than I can. She even looks prettier than I do :bummer:

Re: Clothes for older ladies

true hiccup. My mum wore turquose on my elder sisters wedding. It was a beautifl kataan silk suit with some beadwork on it. She looked fab. This sisters wedding she wore a maroon one and a rust one on the mehndi. Actually she isn;t even very fond of pastels :D

Oh and Mehnaz ur mum looked beautiful. That was a very pretty sari and suited her very well :)

Re: Clothes for older ladies

45-50 is not old (at according to my mom and MIL..lol...to them they seem like 25-30!!)...i think colour all depends on the person themselves and what suits their face.....are both ur mom and MIL "older" type...like the Plain Janes that dont wear makeup and dupatta on their heads at all times???? well for them light pastel colours are nice (if they are the ones that dont really like to stand out and make a statement)...i like pista, peach, tea pink, even a light gold...otherwise i like maroons, blues and greens...at least if they do wear makeup, it wont look really gawdy compared to wearing red or any other bright colour...
if your mom and MIL are like mines, then any colour is nice...for my valima, my mom wore the EXACT colour as me (talk about stealing my thunder..lol...kidding, it was cute..) and my MIL wore the same style clothes and kaam , but it was a green colour (my valima outfit was sea green)...
but for my brother's wedding, my mom HAD to wear a red sari (just had to..lol...)...so my bhabhi wore a magenta/pinkish colour...
one thing i dont recomment is getting a really bright colour..like those pinks, reds, oranges and yellow..its too much!!!

Re: Clothes for older ladies

I think that older ladies look so nice in saris. Much better than some teenybopper who doesn't have the body or the posture to carry it off. Also, a classic shalwar kameez is a never-fail option as well. You don't even need that much kaam on it. Just a lush, expensive fabric with a gorgeous shawl, like jamawar.

However, older women look really bad in lehngas and ghararas. It looks to "madam-ish." Leave that for the younger girls.

Re: Clothes for older ladies

Oh lenghas dont look good on older grlz, only women above a certain age whoe can wear em r brides :halo:

Re: Clothes for older ladies

i love bright colours on my mum!! she looked like such a cutie pie on both my bros and my weddings...

she's nearing 50 but geez i hope she doesnt settle for those pastel like colours... well not till she's like maybe 70 or somthing...

i reckons blues (dark or light), pinks (dark or light) and greens look so good on mums... espcially on weddings...

my mums a real cutsie at heart and i so dont ever want to see her in pastels.. infact when she does wear pastelly colours, im like uuugh...

my MIL looks really good in colours too.. i dont think ive seen her in pastelly colours either... she looks so young neways.. so i hope she never wears them..

my MIL wore her bridal garara on my mendhi...so cute!

Re: Clothes for older ladies

Old birds always look good in saris.

Re: Clothes for older ladies

I think an elegant sari is best.

I have seen several mothers of the bride/groom in plain ghararas, and those looked nice as well.

Re: Clothes for older ladies

:yahoo: i wore a saari when i was only 19

depend on the person how she manages herself , her walk and style .
anything on a lady looks marvellous if she knows how to carry it :dhimpak:

my mother wears shalwaar kammeez mostly , but saaris also .
both look good

Re: Clothes for older ladies

hi... does anyone has any idea as to what this thing is called - i guess it is made out of artificial hair in a curly form and tied over the jooda (bun) made out of ones own choti (pony tail)... we used to see this thing worn by indian acresses in indian movies of late 70s and early 80s. Also, is it still worn in india and pakistan?.. has anyone has a pic of this?

Re: Clothes for older ladies

i haven't seen it lately .. and i don't know wat do they call it :)
