Im 36 weeks now alhumdulillah and am due end of january inshallah
I have bought quite a few outfits for my baby aged 0-3 months and 3-6 months, 0-3 are mainly onsies and 3-6 are dresses as i will be in pakistan inshalah when she trns 3 motnhs!
For new born clothing i have just bought one set the 8 piece set u get for new birns that u usually take to the hospital with u! My older sis who has children advised me to not do any more shopping and to wait till i have the baby so accordng to baby aize we can grt more clothes as in new born or 0-3 mnths size. I feel as if i should have more outfits in new born size she has assured me i will be ok and that she wIll do the ‘new born’ immediate shopping once iv given birth just in case the gender scan was wrong!
yes get gender neutral clothes. Some onesies also with pajamas. I would get more clothes in 0-3 months. I don't know abt you but I was exhausted with the baby and I could not shop. Feeding, changing and trying to sleep had me busy all day. Plus taking him to mall and shopping peacefully couldn't be done by me. If we needed/wanted anything from the mall it had to be quick.
I don't know about others but I basically shopped a lot before my baby was born, I got awesome awesome deals on clothes and I ended up buying for almost 12-18 months (like I said I found some amazing clothes and deals) and I think it was the best thing to do because shopping is the hardest thing once you have kids. (for me it was). It saved me time, plus I noticed my patient hubby becomes very very impatient if our son starts crying or gets frustrated in the mall. And shopping needs to be done in peace.
ehh gender shemnder … forget that … dress for comfort. period.
automne77 is right … get more 0-3 month n olders if you can find deals. newborns grow ever so quickly …
besides … frankly speaking … newborns barely need clothing … I swear … just warp em up in layer of cloths an blankies and you are good! and its easier for you too! the frequent unzipping, unbuttoning for the poop/pee cleanups is a true hassle. i’m not suggesting keeping the baby bare skinned … but a diaper and gown is sooooo much more practical then a bodysuit + onesie … in my experience anyways.
I got sooo many newborns and 0-3 months as gifts … i never even got to dress my billi in all of that stuff, she grew so fast! at 4 months i’m already dipping into my 0-6 month stock
also don’t plan on going shopping right after birth … you wont have the energy or the time … nor would you want to drag the little one out to stores filled with coughing sneezing strangers …
I agree with Ehl e chaman ... I used to keep Jr. in just onsie and only dressed him up fancily once he was more than 3 months old. And that is also when we started getting more social with him.
i've bought 4 newborn size neutral clothes which include bodysuits ,pajamas, caps, socks, bibs etc
and only 3 bodysuits (neutral)for 0-3month baby.....
i bought them 1month before and nowadays m getting 0-3 and 3-6 months clothes and full eight pieces sets as gifts from my friends n neighbours....
so i think i have saved much :/
I think i will get one or 2 more new born outfits then so im prepared for the friest day or so and my older sister has also said once i gve birth inshallah she will be getting all the shopping for me according to baby size becuase mashallah her babies were over 7 pounds terefore only wore new born clothes for a week or 2 n went on to 0-3!
I bought 10 newborn sizes, I had a feeling that my baby might be small but he was 7 pounds 6 ounces, 21.5 inches in length...he was wearing newborn uptil 4 weeks, they were getting shorter in length but fitting was fine...n then for couple if weeks, newborn was small on him n 0-3 was big on him so it was an awkward time but I realized that different brands have different sizes, carters run a lil big, gap is small( he was wearing 3 months in gap at 5 weeks), first impression n childrens place also runs big! Gymboree Is true to size or sometimes small!
Get your shopping done now unless n u till you like your sisters taste..i just wanted to have everything ready and at home n I m so glad we did, first month was the hardest n if I hadn't bought his clothes he would havebstayed in a diaper but I don't like that..he wears clothes with matching accessories. :D
Hmm im based in uk so we dont have the shops u named above! I think i will go and get some more clothes and onsies in new born then and my sisters and mums taste is nice so inshallah shouldnt have a problem there!
Had my 36 week check up today alhumdulillah all is well i bet the next four weeks wIll go sooo slow
i didnt get a lot of stuff before the baby was born, just a few basics. she got a lot of presents for her aqiqah and whatever we needed, hubs and my mom were able to go and get it for me. Honestly they dont need any fancy stuff at this young age. Just make sure you have some basics to start with and build from there when the baby is born. Also get some wash cloths and burp cloths. they have a variety of uses. A few pairs of mittens and socks will also be needed. I would take your sister's advice and not shop anymore. once the baby is here, take advantage of your sister's offer. If you dont trust her choice, maybe she can take care of the baby whiile you go shopping. After the mundane routine of changing diapers and feeding newborns, its a welcome change to be able to go out and do something different. Even if its a simple task of making a quick shopping trip.
I didn't buy a lot either. We didn't find out the gender so we went for neutral colors. I'm glad we only got basics cause they grow out if thinks quickly and we ended up getting a lot of clothes as gifts
