How many dresses do you guys make when you are/were pregnant… what about the ones of you who work and have to wear formal clothes to work… and those of you who have a western and eastern wardrobe how do you go about this thing…
Hi
i jsut buy maternity tops. They ae trendy and can look like kurta;s.
I don't buy the really expensive tops as you only need them for a few months when you are bigger.
I will be passing my tops down to my sister.
Some people get tops and elasticated trousers made, but again they are cheap enough to buy.
Re: Clothes during pregnancy....
I mainly spent money on maternity pants. Even in the 1st trimester when I lost almost 10 pounds, none of my pants would fit because my shape changed very quickly, and I didn't want anything at all fitted that put pressure on the baby. Many women are able to get by with yoga pants and such, but with work, I needed proper maternity pants that looked professional and appropriate. None of the pants were too expensive, but most were in the $20-35 range. I bought some tops in medium rather than smalls and was still able to wear some of my looser tops through most of the pregnancy. Sweater dresses also look cute when you have a bump :D. I didn't buy maternity tops till the 3rd trimester, and that was only because I wanted something new to wear on Eid and to my showers.
As for shalwar kamiz, I did not get any made. I was able to find SOMETHING to wear to desi events for most of the pregnancy. I also have quite a few of those loose kurtas that people wear with more fitted pants and such, so those were nice and comfy. I bought one new suit that would still fit me now, but is a little looser than my other stuff. My mumani gave me a bunch of her clothes that she had made during pregnancy to wear toward the end, but since my bunny came earlier than expected, I didn't get a chance to wear them.
I hope this helps!
Re: Clothes during pregnancy....
It really depends what kind of person you're. I know of someone who is very fashion conscious and with each of her pregnancies she got about 20-30 shalwar kameez made in the fashion that was going on at that time. The pregnancies were close by, but still our desi fashion changed quite a bit recently, so she had new clothes made each time. Personally I think it was a bit overboard, but then again she was pregnant most of the time the past few years, so I guess in that sense it was reasonable or else she would be spending loads of time in maternity pants and big kurtas.
