You have a right to express you opinion but when the sole purpose of expressing opinion is to provoke and troll then it's worth nothing.

What are the definitions of "provoke" and "troll"? The thread was discussing shariah. It is provocative and trolling to discuss shariah provisions in a thread in which shariah was being discussed?!

[QUOTE]
posting facts is allowed but twisting the facts in such a way that they represent a picture which suites ones perspective is not.

Using that logic all history books should be banned. History is the interpretation of facts.

One should also keep other's feelings in mind. You would never see a coloured man having a BBQ in a KKK clan initiation ceremony, nor you will see a Nazi sympathiser running for president in Israel. It all boils down to interest/feelings of majority in any community

In that thread the subject of shariah came up. An apologist for shariah then defended it. That in turn led to some specific shariah provisions being mentioned by me--ironically some of the very provisions that most offend the interests and feelings of the community in question in the thread. So it is permissible to promote shariah but wrong to criticize it?

It seems to me what you are saying is that criticism of the ideology that is leading to nearly daily attacks in your own country will not be allowed on Paklinks for it is "hurtful" to proponents of that ideology. This is a big part of the problem: that side has bullied opponents into silence while they continue to gain ground. The most ironic part is the Salafists cite the very things their apologists and supporters deem "offensive" when it comes from the mouths of critics of Salafists!

I do recognize the special place the sahaba have in Islamic folklore. I am named for one of them. I can refrain from criticism of them on here, but to not allow criticism of shariah would be like banning criticism of PML-N's policies. One can criticize the policies of the PPP (how many times has Zardari been called a crook?), PML-N, Musharraf's record, etc. yet the program of Jamaat Islami and the Taliban--which revolves around the axis of shariah--is off limits from criticism?!

I beg to differ, thread was not about shariah, it was deliberately derailed towards shariah by a certain member and some members fell for the trap. Just like other threads in other sections.

It's exactly like picking Bin Ladin reference to Sahaba and then painting the whole Shariah with same brush! History books contradicts from each other, it depends whose version of history you quote to make your point of view more authentic. Of course the one closer to your belief system would be authentic for you, and you would accuse other history writers liars. So no point in going down that road.

This is the definition of trolling, derailing a topic by passing controversial comments which are NOT directly related to the topic but has potential to provoke other participants to reply in aggression. When you want to challenge an ideology then posting surveys or giving vague references to history and explicitly naming personalities just to provoke is not the way. Feel free to take such discussions where they belong, religious scholars that is, and then post your findings in your blog for "greater good".

This discussion is over now. Others may fall for this but I am not falling in this trap.
