i recently found out last month that my thyroid level is underactive which is causing in-ovulation. i found this out because i skipped my november period (and was not preg, we werent even trying back then) so doc did a few blood tests. she put me on a med (synthroid) for my thyroid and i have a follow up in 2 weeks.
in the meantime, she said we cud start trying for a baby, so we tried the month of december with no luck (my period just started yesterday, also neg preg test). now she is saying that i can start taking Clomid now or wait for my thyroid results to come back (my appt is in 2 weeks for thyroid followup) and then depending on the thyroid results we can talk about what our options are.
my question is, isnt she jumping the gun with the Clomid? we’ve only been ‘unsuccessfully’ trying for 1 month…isnt that too soon to start an infertility med? or is she just being extra proactive and trying to give us as less of a delay in conceiving as possible?
how long did you ladies try for a baby before your docs finally suggested trying clomid? in my situation (given your experiences) wud u suggest i just start the clomid now, asap?
It sounds way too soon to start trying clomid, especially since u have only been trying a month. Also give time for your thyroid meds to kick in, they will need a few months to see how u get on with it and adjust the doses. In any case, even if you did get pregnant right now, it would be better for you to have the thyroid in control bcos out of control thyroid is NOT good for baby or you.
thanks ladies for all of your suggestions, im only 25 so i agree that i can afford to wait and sort of take my time on this. (its just that i've been married 4 years and the ''pressure'' is on u know??) but more importantly, inshAllah im really hoping my thyroid gets better soon. please keep me in your duas. :)
Have you considered alternative therapies? Nature has a version of Clomid-Agnus Cactus. I've heard loads about (I'm currently taking it) and you can google it for more information.
I do think it seems quite too soon for you to be on clomid.
