Clinton Backs Bush On Iraq

I’m a bit confused…

I was browsing through the sky news website, when i came across this intresting article.

Now is it just me or did clinton not recently clearly state that he was totally against an attack on Iraq?

Maybe it is just me, but i’m sure i remember a statement from him just recently clearly stating he was against any sort of attack on Iraq and believed they weren’t a threat…

Now he’s even telling bush ‘to turn up the heat’ - what’s up with that?

**Clinton Backs Bush On Iraq **

Bill Clinton has said any war against Iraq would be won within weeks, and called on US President Bush to “turn up the heat”.

He said the US miltary was far stronger than Iraq’s forces and he would be “astonished” if a war dragged on.

The former US president told TV viewers that sanctions against Iraq had worked in reducing Saddam Hussein’s military strength by 50 percent, while America had boosted its armed forces.

‘Can’t walk away’

He said on a US talk show: “You are looking at a couple of weeks of bombing and then I would be astonished if this campaign took more than a week. Astonished.”

Mr Clinton supported US President George W Bush’s bid to win UN support for action against Iraq.

But he warned that if America acted alone it could set a precedent that “may come back and haunt us”.

He added: “I think the president is doing the right thing. We need to turn up the heat. It is just a mistake to walk away from this.”

well i dont think Clinton was against war, i believe he had said this

1) No action without gainign support of allies
2) Finish the job in Afghanistan first, stabilize the place and then address Iraq issue.

Since he is now fully on board, I am assuming that the above to conditions he had set himself have now been met.

but that all depends on what your definition of "is" is :D
