Mountaineering is a wonderful phenomenon. I have a dream to try out some climbing adventure some day. Let’s see.

For now though, two youn Pakistani men are planning an expedition to K2.

Are any guppies enthusiastic about climbing? Has anyone ever been involved?

Re: Climbing K2

I have had some thrilling experiences of rock climbing but thats about it. climbing a 60 feet rock and mountaineering are two totally different things altogether. I have the dream though :D

Re: Climbing K2

Aa good to know you share the dream Saby! :k:
Where did you climb and did you get any training etc?

Re: Climbing K2

was obsessed with northern areas, at some point in life.

Unfortunately never got to do climbing or any BIG stuff.. for various reasons.
I have had the honor of meeting Ashraf Aman :)

I did a lot of trekking though.. That was in the good old college and University days. All around Skardu, Khaplu, Gilgit and the Khunjerab valley and also Deosai. Been to Nanga Parbat Base camp, Raksposhi base camp and dream of going to concordia....

With age gaining fast on me it looks a pretty daunting task. Taking 6 to 8 weeks off from work, travelling all the way to pakistan .... well... lets see

Re: Climbing K2

One day inshallah I will climb up on Rakaposhi. Thats the most beautiful mountain on this planet.

Re: Climbing K2

It's not easy climbing a mountain!!

The first (and last) time I went with an experienced climbing friend, I thought I was going to die!! The clampons, the ice pick and the howling wind, the slippery slopes, and the height - are all a frightening experience.

On the top the water doe'nt boil, the lack of oxygen makes you disoriented and sleep is impossible with the wind howling and your body heat melting the snow/ ice you sleep on, so you are damp & cold all the time you are up.
