Why don’t you all list down some good examples that you would like to use or have used in the past with people who taunt you about believing in Islam …
I’ll start of with one …
Taunter: “If he drinks he won’t get his 72 virgins”
Answer: “Jealous are we?” or “you do realise that I intend to get much more than 72”
Sorry that doesn't sound very clever to me. Besides why do we even have to answer such dumb people. Best answer is, ignore them. Don't mingle with them. No?

If they were dumb people I would ignore them ... the problem is they are not dumb just their remarks are ... and they make those remarks to annoy ... the worst thing is to see their remarks retaliated ... that is why ... otherwise sometimes I would stay quiet ...
The worst part is that they are not willing to learn, they just trying to play with words (tactically pick a question out of answer/explanation) for the sake of fight or drail the debate till the get such answer which is correct and acceptable according to them.
I never heard any kind of condescending remark from anybody about my religious beliefs. Once a guy told me to ask Osama to stop doing what he is doing and I said "He is my uncle , and in our culture I cannot ask an elder to be more responsible , it is his job to ask me not to do any hanky pankey." That guy never ever made any remarks and never did anybody else.
You reminded me about how once I was asked out of kindness I guess to attend a farewell party in a pub. I said that I don't go to pubs and they started making a meal of it asking why and stuff ... then I said ...
"Can you imagine the scene through a pub window with Usama bin Laden having pint?" ... And they laughed and didn't ask me again.
One day I was approached by a person holding a newspaper up to me showing me a picture of apes and he called the person sitting next to me and said ... "Hey Mike look at the resemblance?" And he was trying to get me annoyed by the remark ... He himself has a bit of stubble but I have a bit more than that ... anyway ... I was quick in there and said ...
"Yes, you're right he does look like you" ...
And then afterward he tries it again saying "He looks like you but you have more hair on your face" and said to him "But you and him are like mirror image twins"

See, I wouldn't even want to bother myself with people like that. I'll probably even stay away from them.
I have been asked dumb questions, but usually it's people who are just ignorant and want to know the information.
Once I was asked if I ever wash my hair (I'm a hijabi), in my college's bathroom and seeing how the chick was one of those sorority-blonde types who probably had no idea about Muslims, I explained how I not only take showers daily, I also have to clean myself properly in preparation of the 5 daily prayers. It was a pretty dumb question and the way she asked it sounded a little offensive, yet when I realized that she really had no idea, I explained it to her without being upset about it.
On the contrary if this was someone who just wanted to make fun of me or insult me or my religion, I'd probably ignore them instead of playing along or hell even report them to my manager if they don't stop. There are very few things I'm as a-nal about but yeah, making fun of my religion, looks, race etc., is not something I'd ever be okay with.
