I just moved to Cleveland 3 months ago after I got married. My husband and I moved together (for his work), and we find this city very boring! We dont know anyone, and there seems like there is nothing to do here.
Anyone live in Cleveland??? Does anyone know of anything to do in Cleveland? All we do is go to the movies or malls every weekend!
go to the local mosque and develop friendship with peple there...how about people at work?

besides, it's summer time so go explore the region. i'm sure there is a lot yet to be explored :)**
we are Canadian, so my husband is here on a work visa, I am on a dependent visa, and cant work on it. He is making some friendships at work. but those take time to develop before you actually become close and invite each other over.
The local masjids dont cater to women. They dont have separate areas for women, so basically women arent allowed there. Also, the ones very close to us cater to African-American muslims only. Im not being racist at all, but I find that I am more in tune with people of pakistani origin.
But we are looking into going to the farther masjids and trying to meet people there.

oh i see...wish you all the best...Good Luck :)
for now we are in the east end, in downtown. When we moved here, we didnt know this wasnt the "right" part of town to be in. We are looking into moving to Shaker Heights by the end of the year if we end up staying in Cleveland.
We have relatives there, both doctors, who seem very well-settled and happy. My parents visited them last year and really loved their home mashAllah.
Try the mosques again. I'm sure there are some with more of a South Asian community. You might need to step outside of your comfort zone to make new friends, but that's not a bad thing.
Yep starting a controversy is the best way to be popular among desi folks and also getting your picture published in local newspaper.
I have a couple of relatives living there forever and seem to be happy. When we visited them last time they invited lots of desi folks to meet and greet us.
Do not wait to invite folks to your abode before you get to know them , you invite them to get to know them instead. ( Golden rule of life , copy righted by me)
