The rankings are based on well defined critical success factors for the creation of Intelligent Communities, and these metrics can be taken as a proxy for how competitive a community will be in the Digital Age.
The metrics are: Broadband Infrastructure, Knowledge Workforce, Innovation, Digital Democracy, and Marketing.
This year’s top seven communities include:
- Cleveland, Ohio, USA
- Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea
- Ichikawa, Japan
- Manchester, United Kingdom
- Taipei, Taiwan
- Tianjin, China
- Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
Out of these seven, the Intelligent Community of the Year will be selected in June of this year.
