I don’t think Army could take action, because it would construed as punjabi invasion and whole of sindh might fall into uprising/chaos. Since last time the operation was carried by Benazir, there were no sindh related repercussions.
The police and other civilian institutions are so incompetent/corrupt already, and most probably manned by the representatives of respective gangs (aka political parties) of karachi.
Can N-League do anything without stirring up even more trouble? because its only MQM now flexing its muscles, then other armed political parties will start it too…and make the halaat of karachi so kharab…nobody would dare to intervene…
Call it clean-up, call it de-weaponization of Karachi or whatever.
The fact is that Karachi needs peace where everyone has a right to co-exist and freedom to carry their businesses.

Conduct a clean-up operation. Just like Brazilian police together with special elite commandos carried in Sao Paulo to clean-up the city from gangsters.
I want to point out Musharraf's statement about tackling Karachi's problems. He said it is useless to go after foot soldiers of militant parties before you tackle their leadership. If any action is taken against MQM's gangsters while Altaf Hussain is living a free life in London then he will create more trouble for Pakistan.
