Yeah, ur right, the fresh stuff looks scrumptious in the shopping malls, but dont grab one to start eating it just like that, for reasons similar to the one mentioned in the first post...yukky but factual stuff indeed !!
What I do is....
1.Buy vegies/fruits
2.Store them in fridge or vegie stand etc.
3.Before eating/cooking, wash them with water.
4.Enjoy
We wash them before storing and wash before eating/cooking/consuming. But the sort of things you are describing , we have to dip them in acid . Yuck , I am not going to look at the veggies and fruits the same way from now on.
Never thought about it like that and never saw anything like that happening . But I am never in the store when they are doing their fruit and veggie merchandising.
Niksik: ok that is just NASTY!!! I would have to hold myself back from throwing up after that sight! It is very important to wash veggies before use not only because of human germs but also to get rid of the chemicals sprayed on them as well as dust and other things that collect on them through travel and storage in warehouses.
Shay: I've never heard of the vinegar/water rinse, I'd have to try that out from now on! Thanks for the tip.
If we use alcohol to rinse and clean our fruits and veggies will it be haram or halal ? That will work better than vinegar. patiently waits for pir frudia for fatwa
Ew Ew thats soo gross :(
I just wash them before eating/cooking, never washed before storing. But this is grossing me out. Maybe I will try the vinegar rinse idea, how much vinegar do you use and for how long should you soak
