no problem scrubing bathroom tile, its just floor in kitchen, family and living room area.
so yesterday i bought mop with srubbing brush attached, so this way i dont have sit on stool
i tell u its very energetic work :(
Use LiSol & mop (once/twice a week) you will not need scrubbing
Yes best tip is to clean it everyday. I don't use any foil all over.. just around the burners. I clean it with spraying 409 or any other good spray cleaner.. a nd wipe it with either a sponge or paper towel.
How do you clean your stove ?
Mine gets very greasy and oily especially after my husband does the cooking. I like the fact that I did not have to cook but I hate the cleaning afterwards. I use the dishwashing liquid to clean.
But I would like to get some tips on quick and fast cleaning and removing the grease quickly.
I do use the aluminun foil on stove plates and hate changing those too. It is such a long chore but atleast I dont have to clean the plates everyday.
Also how do you clean the microwave ?
Any other "totka" regarding cleaning is also appreciated
I know this is a very old thread but lately i tried a method which worked really well so thought I should share. Sprinkle baking soda on all the grease on the stove and spray water on it using a spray bottle. Make sure to cover all grease with baking soda. Leave it for 1-2 hours and clean it with any cleaning cloth. Grease comes off fairly quickly.
For very old grease that doesn't come off with one time use, make a paste of vinegar, baking soda and table salt and apply that. Leave it overnight. Its really easy and require a lot less effort (in scrubbing). For visual demonstrations, search cleaning oven with baking soda on youtube.
I felt that if one did not clean the foil, the smell of food, grease etc would still linger. It drove me crazy. Plus , I have a gorgeous black gas stove, and I like to look at it.
I clean the stove everyday. if not me, my hubby or the children. The key is that when you make a mess on the stove , try and clean it right then.
If I have an extra dirty stove, happens esp when making desi/fried food, spray with degreaser or whatever you are comfortable using and leave it for 10-15 mins. During that time or longer, wipe down the kitchen, wash dishes etc, and come back to clean the stove. It takes just a few mins, esp when you have a daily routine.
Would so appreciate you ladies’ photo input if you don’t have much reservations.
Really looking forward to it, very naive in terms of aluminium foil covering.
Thankyou ninja mummy . But she covered up everything , the entire burner , stove. I never knew alu foil could be used that extensively plus that it is that much fire safe.
Do you think it will be fine if i do this way?

It is up to you how you choose to cover your stove. The videos posted were to give you some idea. However, she did use excessive foil. Some do cover the entire stove, some cover the burner plates only. It can be fire hazardous, esp if you have food/grease/oil remaining on the foil which builds up, esp if you do not wipe it clean. Same applies to an uncovered stove, that is also left with grease/ food build up.
Give it a try and see how it works out. If it doesn't work out, well .......

Yes this part mainly concerns me,as i still don't know about the level of safety. I would preferably be avoiding the burner.
Thankyou anyways
^ I tried it when I first got the apartment. It completely messed up the plates because the aluminum foil melted! I think if you give this a try, you will need good quality foil cuz mine was just from the dollar store.
I use foils, and clean the stove and countertops every night or when I’m done cooking for the day.
-Spray all-purpose cleaners or diluted white vinegar on stove and countertops, leave on for 5-10 mins and wipe off with a dishcloth.
-Microwave: In a bowl of water, add some white vinegar and turn on the microwave for as long as it takes the water to heat up. You want the steam to build up nicely inside. After the bowl has cooled down a bit and the steam has had time to work its magic, remove bowl and the glass plate thing. I wash my glass plate in the sink and leave to dry, then scrub/wipe the inside of the microwave. Make sure you get the top part as well. If the vinegary smell bothers you, leave the door open for a while or just add some lemon juice to a fresh bowl of water and turn on your microwave. Get one of those microwave splatter cover thing if you don’t have one already.
-Clean spills and splatters right away, especially things like daals and besan batter. Daals can leave ugly turmeric stains, so clean right away and scrub with a scotch brite.
I wouldn’t recommend using dishwashing liquid on anything I can’t wash in the sink. Too many suds, too much work trying not to leave the residue. I have used those same dollar store foils and change them regularly, never had a fire or whatever. If something boils over, just remove the pot and use another stove. Meanwhile, let the burner cool down, fill your sink with water and some dishsoap and carefully using an oven mitt, remove the burner plate/grill and let it soak in the sink.
Whether you use vinegar/baking soda/lemon or hydrogen peroxide or a store bought cleaner, you will need a grout brush (small round brush) and scrub after leaving the solution on, then use a wet clean dishcloth/microfiber cloth/sponge to wipe.
how do you guys clean granite countertops? is it ok to use 409 or clorex wipes?
how do you guys clean bathtubs (the dark stains around the perimeter), the shower heads and handles and more importantly the glass door? i find it extremely difficult to remove old water stains from the glass and would love your tips!
also, what is the best way to clean real hardwood floors? i usually sweep, use a dust mop to pick up dust mites and such and sometimes swiffer (as I’m not sure if it is the best product to use on real hardwood floors).
Squeegee on the bathroom glass doors. I hate the glass doors btw. Always get messy. I use wood cleaning liquid in water and mop the floors after sweeping them. If you use a microwave splatter cover, the microwave hardly gets dirty. Buy it from Bed Bath and Beyond or Walmart for those in the USA.
For tile grout the only thing that works for me is liquid laundry bleach. Some people mix baking soda with it too. You are not supposed to use it too often but so far those seem to be the only things that work. Even the grout cleaner from Home Fepot doesn’t .
