Hello 
umm… my iron is a bit black at the bottom (burned i think)… any idea how i can clean it as to avoid unwanted marks on light coloured clothes???

sandpaper (or raigmaal in urdu) is all that you need..just scrub the bottom of your iron with it for a minute or so..and the black bottom is gone. We use it all the time..and it works :)

best solution I believe is lemon or something to clean the iron. Ima ask my dad and get back to you guys. He does something with lemon I believe and it all comes off very nicely and the iron again is good as new.
ahmadjee, if i'm not wrong, its usually because some of the material gets burnt or somehow stuck at the bottom.

Sadiyah, could it be ‘kaam walay kapray’ from Pakistan? When I was single I used my iron for more than 4-5 years, never had a problem. Since I got married, the black stuff started apearing. :halo:

make sure ure iron isnt non stick before u start to sandpaper it :D
u can also get this tube from any home depot kinda store...iron off i think its called.. works great!

khawa, unlike you I didn’t have my mama around to cook, clean and iron for me. I had to do it all by myself.
