How often do you clean all your make-up brushes? Does anyone use disposible ‘applicators’? What according to you is the best way to clean your brushes?

Re: Cleaning make-up brushes
I spot clean and deep clean. These are the things I use:
I spot clean every brush after EVERY use, doesn’t matter whether it’s face, powder, liquid or eye. To spot clean I dilute the MAC brush cleanser with water (1:1) and put it in a spray bottle and either spray right on the bristles and clean on a tissue/cloth or if it needs a good cleaning, I’ll spray it on the tissue and gently swirl until it is clean. The MAC cleanser doesn’t need to washed away with water and it has conditioner in it along with alcohol so you can clean your brush and reuse after 60-90 seconds. And the reason I dilute it is because it can be quite potent and because I clean often, it would be too harsh.
For deep cleaning (which I do every 2 weeks or so) I use the L’Oreal Kids Extra Gentle Extra Conditioning 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner. I LOVE this for cleaning brushes because aside from being ultra gentle it is also very conditioning. I just wet the brush and put a pea-size of the shampoo and swirl the wet brush in it and swirl until clean. I highly recommend it, esp. over baby shampoo which may be gentle but it has no conditioner and still has a ton of sulfate.

The thing is that this isn't soapy cleanser, it is alcohol-based so it evaporates so all that is left on your brush is the conditioner from the cleanser. Try diluting it with water using a 1:1 ratio and using it to spot clean.

Re: Cleaning make-up brushes
I always clean my make-up brushes from time to time but I am also looking for a better way to clean it.
Re: Cleaning make-up brushes
My routine's a little different. I take a small container, fill it with lukewarm water, mix in shampoo or body wash and add the brush. I swirl it around in the mixture to cleanse it thoroughly and usually leave the brush in there for 15 minutes or so. Then I dry it, and it's ready to use again! :)

OMG for 15mins? Doesnt your brush shedd?
Re: Cleaning make-up brushes
I use dial hand soap and water (I like to keep it simple...lol).
Brushes that use "wet" products such as foundation, gel eyeliner, eye shadow base etc......I wash after every single use. I wash them immediately after putting on the make-up.
Brushes that use "dry" products such as powder, shadow, blush etc....I usually wash once every 2 weeks (I also don't wear make-up every day).
I don't use "disposable applicators" for anything.

Uh, i dont know if that is a good idea. Not only can you damage the handle by leaving it in water for prolonged amount of time, you can damage the ferule and most importantly damage the glue that holds the bristles together. And you shouldn't use warm water, even lukewarm unless it's synthetic which can handle a bit more. Always use slightly cool water because you can dry out the natural-haired bristles.
Re: Cleaning make-up brushes
I clean mine every week, and my foundation/powder blush brush every 2-3 days. I use the elf makeup cleanser and i really like it. Just wash them with it and then i put them in a clean glass, bristles facing down so it dries out and the glue isnt bothered. I saw the michelle phan method and i think im going to try her method this week.
