Clay Oven

Hello,

I’ve got a viewing for this venue this week. Has anyone had a venue there? Or been to one? What questions should i ask and does anyone have any tips to make sure i get a bargain!

Re: Clay Oven

Hi Cupcake,

If it's the Clayoven in Wembly you're referring to, then yes, I've been there for both weddings and dinner and dance. They have two adjacent halls dependent on the size of the party. The food is tasty from although it's been 3 yrs since I was last there. Service was also good. There's wasn't much you could do with the decor in the venue other than the stage which was relativey small (in the smaller of two rooms). Overall, the venue is nice and always well liked.

Oh, everyone has to walk up these stairs to get to the venue, a little trickey for brides with their heavy joras.

Re: Clay Oven

Thanks for your reply. Yeah i was looking online and just going through the gallery and it didnt seem there was much that could be done. But right now clay oven may be the only choice we have. Some venues are already booked for april 2010 :o

Re: Clay Oven

Hi Cupcake,

just a bit of advice, when i went for my cousins wedding arrangements, the chap was very insistent that we have the decor his way, every time i made a suggestion he made a comment to say something like “thats old fashioned” “we dont do that anymore” My uncle and aunty really simple people (thats why they took me :hehe:) just agreed, i then put my foot down and said don’t care if its old fashioned, thats how we want it, and he begrudgingly agreed.

I also asked him to cover up all the hindu gods they have in the entrance.

Re: Clay Oven

Thanks for thr advice clothesmad! Will bear that in mind :)

Re: Clay Oven

My experience of clay oven is very good. They were very accomodating and flexible. They can do table decor to your spec, and stages as well.

If they don't have what you want they're happy to source it for you. However if you do move away from the simple there will be a charge. However negotiate hard, and they will budge on price. The one thing that did disappoint me however is they don't allow confetti, due to health and safety. Otherwise all good.

The food is also lovely - make sure you go to the testing session.

Re: Clay Oven

Thanks for everyone's help. I went today - i must say there's not much to decorate but it does look nice when all the chair covers/stages lights are done. The people are very friendly and helpful. Overall a very good experience. We have been invited to taste the food in a few months!

Re: Clay Oven

Enjoy the tasting, from my own experience the garlic mushrooms are always a huge hit.

Re: Clay Oven

been there once on a wedding, they serve some delicious food, make sure they provide halal meat though, they have hindu management I think. It's a nice venue overall.

Re: Clay Oven

Yep definately mentioned it was halal. Food tasting wont be for ages but i'll definately report back although it seems everyone liked their food? lol
