Ajaa-ib Khana
Released: October 1997
Starring Badar Khalil Mishi Khan, Nabeel, Zaheen Tahira, Sanam Iqbal, Shafi Mohammad and others. Written by Noor ul Huda Shah(remember the fabulous play âMarviâ) and directed by Iqbal Ansari. This play had to wait for 3 or more years to go through the censors and finally be approved by PTV. The controversial topic is of prostitution. Mishi Khan plays a prostitute who wants to be successful but is lost and betrayed in this cruel world. Nabeel is obssessively in love with Mishi, but of course Mishi has better things to look towards and doesnât care about Nabeel. Badar Khaleel was a singer during her time and she refuses to let go of her past pizazz and glory. The story moves quite slowly but the ending is very appropriate and well done. Mishi does a wonderful job especially towards the end of the play. Sanam Iqbal has given a good performance in her role as Saddiqa. The background music of âteray ishq ki intiha chahta hoonâ was quite appropriate. There are certain aspects of it which I donât agree with like: Iâve never seen that people had to touch their eldersâ feet for respect and as one viewer mentioned that the play highlighted Bidaâ, which is haram in Islam, but is deep rooted in the Pakistani culture.

Drama Review:
Starring: A lot of new people who are real life military personnel.
Produced by the ever famous Shoaib Mansoor (Ankahi, Fifty fifty). This
has been a much awaited play. Itâs a sequel to Suharay Din which he did
a few years ago (also on military life).
The play caught the audience and mediaâs attention before it even got
started because it is filmed on location in many places. The play
realistically portrays military life, both the emotional and physical
aspects of it. The cinematography is awesome! The actors are great! The
whole play is very well directed, acted, and produced. Much awaited to
be released on video..itâs finally available! Go out and rent it
because itâs not one to be missed especially if you need a few good
laughs:)

Drama Review:
Starring: Marina Khan, Atiqa Odho, Nohman Ijaz, Huma Nawab, Sajid
Hassan. The drama shows the different roles of women and how they are
all unhappy with their husbands. It contrasts the women in the village
who worship their husbands to the urban women who, eventhough not tied
down by their husbands, are unhappy as well. It also talks about child
labor and family planning although towards the end some scenes seemed
like and ad for âduo baachay khooshal gharana.â Itâs very well
performed by the main actors. The scene where the guy brings âladoosâ
to Huma Nawabâs sister is both innocent and pleasing. Sajid Hassan adds
a little humor to the whole thing which is pleasing and not excessive
like most dramas tend to do.

Drama Review:
The central role in this play belongs to Chaudhry Hashmat, a zamindar,
perfectly portrayed by the late Mehboob Alam. Firdous Jamal & Aurangzeb
Leghari, Hashmatâs nephews & Munawwar Saeed, playing Hashmatâs son,
complete the zamindar family.
Through this play, people will get a taste of our feudal system that is
destroying the country, a feudal system that was put in place by the
British. We find these zamindars to be cruel, heartless, greedy,
believing themselves to be above one & all. They are rulers of their
village but their influence knows no bounds as their presence is also
felt in city of Lahore. No one who comes within their reach is safe-
they have no friends- even the most loyal of servants isnât safe.
Firdous Jamal as Chaudhry Anwer is at loggerheads with his brother,
Chaudhry Niaz Ali. There is no peace within the family our outside.
Chaudry Anwerâs major vices include greed & lust. Chaudhry Niaz Ali
wants to escape all this & settle down in the city but canât- the
feudal web entangles him and keeps him in.
Abid Ali, after Chaudhry Hashmat, is the other actor to lookout for. He
stands out in his role as Dilawar, a literate man who joins Chaudhry
Hashmatâs ranks just to seek revenge on the person who killed his
brother, who incidentally has taken refuge in Sikandarpur, Chaudry
Hashmats domain.
I was a little kid when this play was first aired by PTV. I had long
since forgotten the plot of the play, but the character of Chaudhry
Hashmat, stayed with me. I remember back then, I didânt care for any of
the other actors, I just couldnât wait for his scenes. As soon as his
scenes began, I couldnât wait for them to end- Chaudhry Hashmat scared the daylights out of me.
After watching this play again after all these years, I have found
Chaudhry Hashmat to be as intimidating as he was 20 years ago.

Starring: Ashar Azeem, Nazli Nasr, Nabeel, Rohi, Asal Din Khan, Wajid Ali Shah, Zubair Khan Achakzai, Mohamad Nawaz, Salman and Humayun Saeed.
Set around 4 rather likeable young fellows who are a crack squad of ..well, police commandoes. The production, which oozes with style! The actors all had a tremendously relaxed, charming style. Tons of neat outdoor shooting, and liberal use of ammunition to convey realism ( rather than the usual smokeless, flashless bangs with unrealistic recoils that weâre used to). And direction and lighting that could give Miami Vice a run for its money! Even the action sequences were well staged! A must for people who enjoy good production values and direction, and for those who enjoy Basic Heroics 101. Best of all for those who enjoy both
Dhoop Kinare
Released: 1980s
Rating: 8/10
Drama Review:
Marina Khan, Badar Khalil, Hameed Wyne, Qazi Wajid, Sajid Hasan & other,
Haseena Moinâs Dhoop Kinaray is always a treat to watch whenever given
a chance. Marina and Rahat have acted superbly, the script is amazing
and the play is well directed.
The story revolves around a child specialist Dr. Ahmer Ansari (Rahat
Kazmi) whom setbacks in life have turned into a very cynical and
cold-hearted man. His aim in life is now his patients. In enters into
his life and hospital a very energetic, full of life young doctor, Zoya
Ali Khan (Marina Khan) who has entered this profession solely on the
orders of her father (Qazi Wajid). Zoya is careless and non-serious,
and Ahmer makes it a point to improve her attitude.
With many twists and turns that leave the viewers glued to the screen,
the story reaches its climax. Sajid Hasan made his debut as Dr. Irfan;
a role that seems to be written for him and in which he performs
brilliantly and livens up the whole atmosphere. Badar Khalil plays the
role of Dr. Sheena, a colleague of Dr. Ahmer who loves him and leaves
no opportunity to create misunderstandings between Zoya and Ahmer. The
poetry by Faiz Ahmed Faiz in the background is appropriate. This is
one of those plays that leave the viewers enchanted whenever seen
now u all tell:)
