Eight persons including two children were injured in a clash that broke out between two groups at a village here while cheering for the ongoing India-Pakistan cricket match being beamed on TV.
Police sources said yesterday members of one group were watching the match on television and cheered One group was allegedly cheering the Pakistani batsmen while watching the second India-Pakistan test on TV in Manal village under Mussorie police station, police said today.
They said another group, also watching the match, took umbrage and asked them to keep silent and this lead to a clash between the two groups.
At least eight persons, including two children - Chand, 14, and Nafeez, 13, were injured in the clash.
The groups, which are said to have an old rivalry, did not lodge a complaint but the police took the matter seriously and got it resolved by the local panchayat.
A police contingent had been deployed around the village as a precautionary measure.
