clarrification needed...pakistani sunni muslim death

I was wondering if someone could confirm for me what happens after someone who is sunni pakistani muslim dies…as I have been given conflicting informtion!

Do sunni muslims celebrate 40 days after death? Some people have said yes…some people have said no…this is only shiites …and its only 3 days.

Yes they/we do have 40th day.

there's the 10th (daswa) 40th (chaleeswa)
basically they do dua on those days i think

3rd day or 40th day ...all are innovations. i am sunni. i am muslim.

thanks for replies...so if they are innovations...do people carry out these? I am just interested as a member of a friends family has passed away and I want to repect any traditions in which they may follow
