Clarifications of some Issues concerning Umrah

I have some question for religious scholars.

Why do we wear Ihram from Pakistan once Meeqat is outside Jeddah on way to Makkah. Why cannot we land at Jeddah and wear Ihram at the meeqat prescribed?

Why are we not allowed to see Ka’aba during Tawaaf (according to Hanafis atleast)

Why do we have to wear hawai chappal only in Ihram? why cannot we use normal slippers?

Re: Clarifications of some Issues concerning Umrah

I'm hanafi, and I've never heard this in my life ever...

I'm not a scholar but I think I can shed a bit of light on your questions.

Wearing ihram from home is the regular practice. People who live outside the meeqat area have always done this. There is however, discretion. The people who live inside the meeqat area are required to travel away from their home to the meeqat point wear ihram and come back in as pilgrims (muhrim). The meeqat area is therefore traditionally meant for the locals, but some people fly in to Jeddah and then travel out to the meeqat. Then come back in to Makkah. Jeddah is inside the meeqat area, so it is often more convenient to travel from Jeddah to Makkah direct rather than go away from Makkah then come back in. I would consider it better to wear ihram from home, even if home is Pakistan. Some people wear it on the plane, that is big no, no if you want to get dirty ihrams.

Generally I think there is a given Sunnah practice regarding Tawaaf. Even though looking at the Kaabah whilst seated in the haram is considered a good deed, the looking to the kaabah during tawaaf is not a regular practice. A common sense answer is that if we were to look at the kaabah, like continuously, then we would end up bashing in to people. Pushing during tawaaf nulifies the tawaaf! I don't think we should try to avoid seeing the Kaabah altogether because then we would not know how to get our bearings for Rukn-Yamaani and Hajr-Aswad.

Last answer is that part of the ihram for men is to leave the top bone of the foot alongside the big toe around to the ankle bone should be bare. The hawai chapal is not necessary, if other sandals permit the skin of these two bones to be naked then they are okay also.

Re: Clarifications of some Issues concerning Umrah

but this is what is prescribed in Hanafi Maslak

There is nothing of sort allowed which is "sewn" .. hawai chappal is not sewn at any of its part.

Re: Clarifications of some Issues concerning Umrah

Thanks brothers.

psyah one clarification. I recently went for Omrah. The meeqat lies on the road from Makkah to Jeddah, how come Jeddah is inside the Meeqat area. I read this thing of going to Meeqat and than coming back to Jeddah in one hanafi book as well but could not understand the thing on ground. Hope you would help in correct interpretation.

About looking at Ka'aba, the book prescribed that after Istillam have a right turn in a military fashion and never look at Ka'aba other than Istillam, it is Makrooh while you are giving examples of banging in other people.

I need to know if this bone issue has been narrated by Prophet? Can someone helpf?
