PhD is not only about BASICS. We are here talking about basics which we have learnt from Hindus and Christians. As I said you need to sit in that community and you ll know many things without reading the books or going and sitting infront of an aalim in that religion.
Anyway i see your point and my advice would to contact some Phds and scholars of Islam and do not look for advice here. As none of us are Phds here :halo:

niksik,i don't want to talk about hinduism please, you and i have not mastered other religions including hinduism so** i would prefer not to bring up other religions here unless there was a hinduism or Christianity scholar present here, by talking without knowledge on hinduism or any other religion, i feel like we're disrespecting those other religion which is something i will not allow.**
that's all i ask and because here on GS there are so many muslims that have an immense knowledge on islam, i would prefer to only talk in terms of islam, if that's ok without disrespecting the religion.
well I only asked about islam and the quran b/c you, would only know about that, the issue with idol worship is something I think only a learned hindu should talk about. Lethal kamikazi and issues regarding christianity/bible is something only knowledgeable christians should talk about or else misinformation can be spread like you're doing right now about idol worship and hinduism, it's best to leave it to the people of those religions that know their religion very well to explain it.

when you've done your phd in hinduism then we'll talk about hinduism and i can ask you questions about it.
i didn't say that niksik was disrespecting any religion, i just would rather not discuss religions that we don't have an immense amount of knowledge on. I just want to focus on islam if that's ok. why do other religions need to be brought up? *wanting to have a hinduism scholar or a christianity scholar present when talking about those respective religions isn't too much to ask is it? *
that's what zakir naik has done on his website, and most of what he has there about other religions is mostly all wrong according to christians, jews and hindus that know their religion inside and out. that's what i see as wrong, misguiding or taking verses from those holy books out of context. I would never listen to what a christian,jew, hindu would have to say about islam b/c those people would have half knowledge on islam unless they have a phd in islamic studies or world religions. i would just like to stay away from all that.

OK Nisha, yout have mentioned many times when one talks about any religion (other than islam, right? ;) ) one has to be a learned scholar.

There is absolutely no reason for asking these questions 'the way you ask' and answer 'the way you answer'. It is very obvious you are not so naive and you have admitted before that you are not!
You bring one argument after other and derail your own topic by changing the questions or their contents as shown throughout this thread.
And do not question ANYONE why someone entered the thread if you open a thread on an open forum.
If you are sincere to learn then quit this trolling behavior.
It is an old technique to make fun of others..by calling them having immense knowledge and then try to counter them with sarcasm. ( carrot and stick)
Go to a learned Aalim and read books. Make up your mind on your own.

why is it necessary to talk about other religions when the two questions asked in the beginning of the thread were only related to islam? i don't see the point. in order to clarify stuff about islam we need to talk about other religions? that doesn't make any sense to me. but anyways, the mod is free to close this thread.

its only helpful to talk about other religions... we human beings are more likely to understand something when facts are presented in comparison to the contrary... the difference becomes more vivid, and stands out clearly when its compared to something, and specially something which you probably already know... there is no point of getting offended when some posters mentioned hinduism merely for explanation purpose

it feels like backbiting or gossip though doesn't it? constantly talking about others or showing how we are superior, my questions have nothing whatsoever to do with anything related to other religions nor do they require any comparison. and no i would in no way be an expert in islam, hinduism, christianity, judaism or any religion out there so it's unfair for me to blurt out stuff about a particular religion which i hear about online or on the internet. nope i was not offended, i would do the same if the question was about christianity and people with half knowledge started saying stuff about islam.
how does the thread topic relate to hinduism, just b/c my profile name sounds like a hindu name, we have to use hinduism as a comparison religion even when there is no need to compare. i've already said that i love most everything about islam but those verses related to nonmuslims are tough to swallow for me that's all and this is in no way an emotional rant like Diwana said. i'm just presenting my opinion after getting it clarified from people i thought knew the quran inside and out.

^ no its not backbiting at all, its an open forum, any hindu here can defend themselves and refute the claims that they worship more than one gods...
to be honest, nobody here knows Quran inside out... you said that you love the most of Islam, and there are only a couple of verses which are bothering you, of course primarily because you could not understand them, and secondarily because you currently belong to that group against which those verses are (then definitely its an emotional thing)... if its true that only these verses are an obstacle, and if you are really serious about finding out the meaning of these verses and why they are so, you should sincerely talk to some Learned Scholar as in your own posts you mentioned that... and by an Expert/ Learned Scholar i DO NOT MEAN internet/tv/disco molvi...

what about the issue of nonmuslims being the enemies of Allah?
I have not read all the replies but here is what I think.
Non-muslims do not become enemies of allah does because they were born as a non-muslim. They are considered enemies when they directly or somewhat indirectly take part in the activities to elimnate Islam. And if my definition is any true then there are many Muslims also who could also be considered enemies of allah.
